I know there’s a lot of people like this beer and it’s all a matter of taste but............
At £2.50 for a small bottle that tastes like it’s infected ( it tastes identical to two of my homebrews that went wrong) (nail polish/medicine) I just can’t see the attraction
I guess my palate just doesn’t like Belgian beers, I brewed the Festival Belgian IPA and poured it away (I thought I had messed up) and it tastes like a Coopers Canadian Blonde I once fermented at stupid temperatures.
Oh and you can taste the alcohol burn (9.5%!!!)
Apart from that, it’s no bad!!!!
What do you guys think?

I tried a couple of bottles a while back and thought they were quite nice, but not nice enough to buy any more. I don't remember picking up an infected taint to it, but maybe thats because I have tried a number of Belgian beers over the years.

Sounds like you got a bad bottle. I can understand it not being to your taste, but I don't get your description of metal polish and all that.

I didn't like it either, can't remember exactly why though I didn't think the hoppiness went with the style, or perhaps just not with how I thought it would taste. I love the original though.

I've only tried the original, and only once, but it didnt catch me. Seemed very mellow bordering on bland and the alcohol was hitting me hard so I didn't finish it. Been meaning to try it again.

I tried it and thought it a hybrid style that didn't work. Drinkable but not worth buying again.
A better hybrid is Williams Bros Caesar Augustus a Lager/IPA hybrid
Plus it’s around 5% compared to 9.5%
I like to have a few of the beers I like the taste of and I think they are damaging their own sales by making it so strong.
I’m sure once they read my thread the abv and taste will be changed accordingly wink...

I really like William Bros beer their Belgium beer from Aldi iS excellent. Also try Drygate brewery beers they are great. They are a joint venture with WB who bottle and can their beers. I went on a beer tour to Drygate in Glasgow weekend before last which was excellent. Their beers are on sale in Morrisons so try the mango pale ale and if you can see it Chocolate Stout.

The Duvel Triple Hop used to change every year if I remember right, with a different hop variety each time. It seems to have been citra for a good while now though, wish they'd change things again to keep it interesting.

Edited to add - apparently they DO still do a new hop each year, but the citra sold well enough for them to make it a semi-permanent addition. The annual hop version this year is Cashmere, should be delicious!

Also went on the Drygate tour last year and really enjoyed it. They were growing hops behind the brewery which was of interest since I'm trying to grow them too. Want a trip to WEST next. Also really rate Caesar Augustus. Thought I'd bought a lager by mistake but eventually tried it and my eyes were opened!

nope - never had that. I did prefer the triple hop sorachi ace to the citra though but there was no nail polish or medicine in either of them.

Given all the above, I reckon you just don’t like this flavour profile. sick...
