1 gallon all grain recipe. Help !

Hi there I need some help with a recipe for a 1 gallon all grain brew . Wanted to start small will be doing biab method . Need some help with what grains I need as it totally baffles me . I do like IPA but I’ve had a look at a few recipes and find it hard how to source most of the stuff . Please could some give me a very simple recipe for 1 gallon please.

I would recommend a SMASH recipe to start with that is simple to do. If you are not aware that is a Single Mash And Single Hop. I do not do small batches but somebody will chime in with the amounts
 
If you find an AG recipe for a beer you like the look of but the volume is different you just pro rate the quantities. And there are a few single hop beers in the Greg Hughes book Home Brew Beer if you can get hold of a copy. Try you local library as I did to try before you buy
 
I started with the Simple AG method as linked above, but varied the recipe, made 4 different beers then got full scale equipment. That method is probably the best intro as it's low cost, basic ingredients and should make a tasty beer.
 
I'd agree go smash. My first brew was an AG which was part of a kit type thing that the missus got me for a present. Small and simple defo the way to go. Have fun.
 
Thanks for your reply’s . Was thinking of changing the Maris otter with a pilsner and try making a lager while the weather is still cold . As I understand it I just need to Ferment at a lower temperature. Is this just the case or do I need to do more homework. Thanks
 
Crossmyloof is a great website for ordering ingredients when starting out, you can order the exact amount of grains that you need, precrushed and ready to tip straight into your mash tun.
They have a good selection of yeasts and hops too at quite cheap prices.

Just be careful when searching "one gallon recipes" as a British gallon is bigger than a US gallon
 
Gallons US or UK. How many pints in a Gallon 6 or 8.
How many forlongs in a mile.
How many chains in a forlong
Why do we talk about 90 degrees being hot but never use Degree F for cold as it's always zero not 32.
This embracing imperial units is 40 years out of date.
I wish this site stuck to metric units

Probably best to stick with an ale, the yeast will be happy as long as you can keep them 18c - 22c and some are fine outwith that, Notthingham comes to mind as being reliable but I've never used it. Lager yeast is fussier, wants to ferment around 10c, most then need warmed up towards the end and then would traditionally be lagered close to 0c for weeks. Ale is just a smoother process and quicker for a first go. If you do pale malt, a German noble hop and a clean yeast fermented cool then the result will be quite lager-like anyway.
