Yea, I know, I won this and I am a barsteward for winning. I left a review recently on the B2b forum and I just want to add something further via the forum

As an extract brew, this is extremely delicious. I did cheat and used cane sugar to brew this, which may be the reason I am experiencing the sweet and sour of it. However, I do find this to be a very sensory experience and I do not even like IPA as a beer - more of a stout dude to be honest. The sweet and sour of this beer I have found to be rather wonderful. Would I brew this again? If I were an IPA drinker then absolutely, this is a fine beer and well worth trying, even if it is just the once. My experience so far with MYO brews has been wholly positive and if you cannot be bothered to grain and want to take a short cut. Yea, this gets my thumbs up.

So I’ve just recently done this Brew and have had it in the bottles for 7 days and impatience got the better of me and I popped one open (I’ve got 41 bottles)

I was more curious because having looked at on of the bottles it was surprisingly starting to look quite clear already.

my reason for posting is this, it tastes and looks fantastic already!

It’s clear, it’s got fizz, and it literally tastes like it’s just come off the draft, should it be this good after 7 days? I got my folks to have a taster and they agreed it was a beaut. Should I leave them for a further period in the warm? I should I shift them into the cold now and crack them open at pleasure??

Got some nice strength to them too, SG readings from start to finish were 1.052 finishing at 1.010 so a healthy 5.5% abv

I drank mine a few weeks ago. It was totally delicious and I don't even like IPA's lol

I agree, these are very good.

I bought mine when B&M were clearing their stock in 2018.

Brewed two (half) packs last November (BBD) with an additional 1kg granulated sugar (so 1kg brewing + 1kg granulated).

OG 1.068
FG 1.006
ABV 8.1%

Put in Pressure Barrel..

Bought two bigger packs recently from B2B to replicate..

Finally knocked this one up yesterday, with brew enhancer and Tesco's Ashbeck water. Decided to ditch the yeast on the pack and used a pack of CML 'Four' to try. Interested in seeing how this turns out!

These have been my stock beer for the last 8 months. Done 10 of them Brew to Bottle were selling them off for £8.95, they are bang on if brewed with 500g of light DME, and 500g of dextrose. I have been using the kit yeast and its great, tried one with a CML Kiwi pale yeast, and it wasnt any better. I have also dry hopped each brew with 50g of various hop (as well as the kit hops) found cascade, and simcoe the best. Got one in the brew Fridge now with 100g of cascade, and the kit hops smells lovely. :beer1:

Made one a while ago and I was really impressed, made one recently and was not too good, I have one to make so will probably be making this in the Spring/Summer when I tend to do less AG due to time restrictions.

Have found them best after fermenting for 2 weeks in primary (dry hop for last 5 days) leave in secondary for 5 days, then cold crash for 24 hours, then gelatine fine, then leave for 2 weeks before sampling, tried them after a week, and they are a bit green. The last 2 i have added 250g of crushed crystal cold steeped overnight in 2l of water. Turned out nice.athumb..

Bottled this after two and a half weeks and a cold crash, and it's looking promising! Only additions were 50g of citra lying around and swapping the yeast out for CML Four (which looks like a decent yeast, but that's another thread!), came out a lovely golden straw colour, bitter but the hops came through well (mainly citra funnily enough :laugh8:).

Lets see how it conditions and will try it in a fortnight. And will be grabbing Oakham's finest to compare it to!

Got a feeling I've messed the batch up. Decided to oxy the bottles prior to bottling and had left a lot of residue. Tried one now (early granted) and had a harsh chemical taste to it. I'll leave them be for a few weeks now, but fear the worst aheadbutt.

Finally remembered my login details :laugh8:

So after a few weeks things don't seem too bad. Definitely get the citra aroma. And there's a nice beer in there somewhere, but it seems very bitter. Far too bitter unfortunately. Whether it's down to off flavours due to the bottles, or the kit itself I can't say. Will give it another week or two to see where we're at.
