Just got an email inviting me to browse the new Hop and Grape website. In the day, Hop and Grape, Darlington, used to be my supplier of choice when John and Patsy gave a truly excellent service at reasonable prices. Just had a quick browse and found quite a lot of packaged hops going back to 2015 harvest and WGV for example, at £5.59 harvested in 2014, about twice the cost of much fresher hops from elswhere. Sticklebract hops, too, (I think it's a kilo, but can't be sure) from 2013. They also sell crushed grain and that's the worry. The hops have the date declared, but if this new H&G has cleared out the old stock from Darlington, there's no knowing how old the crushed grain has been hanging about. Let the buyer beware!
