Hi all, I am going to be making an elderflower sparkling wine and some Turbo Ciders this week, I do not have any yeast nutrient in though, I can’t get to a Wilko/boyes due to being stuck at home and I can’t find any online where delivery isn’t about a fiver!

Is there anything else I can use, maybe a household product that would be a good alternative? Or does anyone know where I can order some with reasonably priced delivery please?

Half a teaspoon of Marmite / Vegemite should do the trick or a ground up brewer's yeast tablet. Some of the components of garden fertiliser would also be good in addition, but wouldn't recommend it as who knows what else is probably lurking in there. You need B complex vitamins and diammonium phosphate.

Hi there, looks like I can get hold of some brewers yeast tablets, would these do the trick please? 500 tablets for about a fiver.

Those yeast nutrients are diammonium phosphate and is used I think primarily as a nitrogen source which isn't really necessary for beer. As above, if you save some yeast trub from a previous brew in the fridge and add a spoonful to the boil it would be a much better option, similar to servomyces. Brewer's yeast, like the kind you get in a health food shop would probably be similar.

He's doing elderflower wine, Steve, and cider. ALthough I'm not sure it's much needed for cider, either, but since it's a "turbo" it might be a good idea.

Hi all, I’m sorted now thanks for taking time to read and reply to my question!
