Hi all,
I made a Cwtch kit last Sunday and the beer seemed to be fermenting away nicely with plenty of bubbles from the airlock. I then put the last 2 bags of hops in on Thursday and its seems to have stopped completely. Any ideas as to what's happened guys!

If all was bubbling nicely and it stopped when you added the hops. I would think the most probable reason is the lid is not properly sealed and co2 is finding an easier way out than through the airlock.

I just done the same kit and after my 4 days of fermentation I took a reading and it was already right down. After the remaining fermentation time it hardly changed.

I had some pressure issue with my barrel but it still tasted amazing. If you barreling leave it a full two weeks to carb then a full two weeks to clear. I did a couple of bottles and I saved one for after my barrel was finished. This bottle was outstanding and I put that down to it was conditioning for well over a month.

I think the 2+2+2 rule is simplistic and wrong. Ferment until the FG is stable for 2/3 days + carbonate for 2 weeks + condition based on the OG, so if the OG is 1040 then minimum 4 weeks if 1050 then 5 weeks etc. Obviously for 1043 use common sense. I add cold crashing after the FG is stable for usually 3/4 days.
