Edit- I've added a poll to the thread so please feel free to vote!

The recipes are just guidelines for people to follow, as I say this is just going to be a bit of fun.
I will make sure that the winning recipe is converted into an extract version so that everyone can have a go!

Bit early for a christmas brew. I would normally do one at the start of October.

But no harm in thinking about what christmassy flavours to add.
Soft brown sugar, ginger, cinamon...
Question is what are the quantaties needed to flavour a 5 gallon batch successfully

Sounds like a fun idea.

May be decide on a grainbill that every beer should use then members can make their own twist on it with hops and other additions of their choosing

I was thinking that the brew day/brew week could be decided based on the recipe- ie if it’s a big malty beer the sooner the better, but a NEIPA would be brewed as close to Christmas as possible.

Well up for that, but I think you should give us some style guidelines otherwise we'll be fretting over whether it should be a bubblegum and watermelon Christmas NEIPA or a tripe steeped imperial shandy. Looking above, first reactions suggest big, malty and darkish. That would be my approach, too.

Just thinking. Is there a decent, commercial Christmas beer most of us might know that we can interpret. Also, another drunken thought, perhaps we should all send a bottle to hopsteep as an impromptu competition.

I’ll put my thinking cap on this afternoon and update this thread with some ideas that people can vote on 👍

I’ll make sure it’s inclusive as well for brewers of all techniques. Beer Lives Matters and all that...
