Pours a nice clear amber copper, had a decent head that lingers for a while. Aroma is pretty mild, has a nice light toasty toffee malt and something like orange marmalade. Carbonation is medium and really nice, it fits the style well. Taste is caramel malt and a hint of hop fruity, woody and a slight tea like astringency. Mouthfeel is very light, fades quite quickly and ends with a bit of citrus and then some bitterness, the bitterness is on the light end but balances well. Overall its a really nice, refreshing and easy drinking california common, very similar to anchor steam but a lighter on the hops and not quite as bitter. I just read over the BJCP guidelines and read over my comments and they are surprisingly similar, so spot on with this one. Stupidly enough I finished both glasses before I was done reviewing. I swear this style isn't an attention whore like a neipa, but they go down so damn easily.

I think the malts and yeast are perfect for this, really would be curious to see what would happen with a bigger hop load and even a decent dry hop?

Thanks for the beer and good job with this one it is really well made. Looking forward to the belgian stout!

Thanks mate, glad you enjoyed it. I still think I got the better of the swap. But yes I think a dry hop might do this one some good.

Early sampling another citra galaxy summer breeze pale ale to see if it's ready for cold lagering. Think so and its glowing. Also forgot about the foam affect flaked barley has, makes it really fluffy.

I'm currently drinking liquid marmalade. 😛
I found this cheeky number on the shelf in Lidl this afternoon, couldn't resist giving it a go.

Not sure of the brewery, it has Lidl's address on it so it is a 'brewed for'

Lists pale ale malt, with Rakau, Admiral, First gold and Mandarins Bavaria hops
Ibu of 35.

Must get some more 🤘

Next one of the night is @strange-steve weizenbock and what a delight it is. Firstly it has that sour sort of aroma on the pour, which I have to say isn't my favourite, but it is to style. A nice head which lingers and is really well carbonated. Its medium bodied I would say with a cherry like initial taste which clears to leave malty alcohol. It tastes strong but not sure what strength. It's a really nice beer, I'm not sure how many I could have, which is not a criticism at all, more that it's one to savour.

Just a footnote, I had it quite cold, as it warms the aroma has turned more clove, lovely!

Sorry for the dreadful pic.

Getting to the end of my Scottish Heavy now, still serving with a lovely head from original priming.

Now trying this Pineapple Milkshake IPA from Black Sheep brewery - quite pungent with pineappley,
vanilla aroma and slight coconut background, hopped with Denali.
Pleasant but would'nt want more than a couple in an evening.

The world would be so boring if we all liked exactly the same things, in mitigation my sense of taste and smell are very blunt so I need a slap with a 2x4 to notice many flavours.

So, finished the orange pale ales and now hitting wheat meet again from electric bear.
Crisp and fresh, lovely 👍
