Very definitely still green and acrid. I will wait a couple weeks or so for the next one.

Probably a good idea, especially for a nice dark beer like that. My brown ale was not very nice for a couple of weeks but is coming into its own now. I normally don’t expect much from a stout for 2-3 months (actually, that’s not true, I expect far sooner but put up with waiting! 😂 ).

First up the Shipstones. An IPA from their Heritage Range. With great excitement I open the bottle and pour.

The aroma hits my nose.

Sigh.

I should have read their website, as 'Heritage' means cascade and centennial.

Sigh.

It's a nice beer, really it is. But I'm disappointed as I had expected something different. Heritage, to me, means something different, in a sort of not relatively recent hops kind of way.

Sigh.

OK, it’s time...

This beer is from @Pennine and weighs in at 6.2%.

Slight fobbing as the bottle was cracked and nicely effervescent through the pour leaving a good head which collapsed to a thin covering but then fully lasted to the bottom of the pint - nice retention! A nice dark toffee colour, quite hazy in appearance.

Aroma is all hops, quite a nice a nice balance of Azzaca and Mosaic. I know there is Citra in there and so I can smell it but had I not known I’d have been less confident about this one (we’ve had discussions about how Citra is just “less“ at the moment). There is a slightly malty backbone but the hops definitely win out.

Flavour is most obviously Mosaic and is nice, Azzaca is a little less pronounced than it was on the nose but still notable.

Bitterness is fairly assertive but not excessive. It tastes quite dry and slightly pithy though not at all astringent.

So comp worthy? I always forget how overpowering mosaic is, need to remember to use it at a much lower amount than citra.
