I was under the impression that a private company can refuse service and call the police due to trespass for anything that isn't a protected characteristic?

All I know is my son who works at Tesco part time is not allowed to stop customers going into the store and I don't believe their own security are allowed to get involved either maybe that's why there is talk of private security firms.

A shop worker in Scotland in the summer showed us a sunflower lanyard that she had around her neck. She explained that it showed that she had a hidden disability that made her exempt from wearing a mask. Problem solved for supermarket security staff?

Our Tesco were giving them out awhile ago (no sure if they still do) a good idea as long as they advertise what they are for in the stores.

Trouble is with the lanyards is anyone can get them, they're about £3 on ebay.

The great unwashed scum of the earth will always find a ways of getting round rules even ones that are supped to save lives, if they weren't so thick they would realise these rules are there to protect their families as much as any other families.

I couldn't agree more, I've just spent an hour or so on facebook reading about this very subject.
Luckily by far the majority agree about the mask wearing in shops, just a few morons disagreeing.
One of the morons threatened a woman that she's going to get beaten up the next time she goes out.
I reported the post to facebook, they said it doesn't breach their rules.

Yes we have a stupid group in our country that we didn't have 50 years ago. They have no moral conscience. They are not just young people but the "parents" of young people showing their children their way of not working.

Sounds like they are the sort of people who shouldn't be allowed out or allowed access to the internet for their own good i bet they use the word Hun at the end of every sentence. aheadbutt

An Asda supermarket is to host a Covid-19 vaccination centre. (BBC News)

Priority groups will receive the Pfizer-BioNTech vaccine from qualified pharmacy staff at a branch in Birmingham from 25 January.

Selected by the NHS, it is believed to be the first vaccination centre inside a supermarket in England.

It will operate in a former clothing section seven days a week from 08:00 to 20:00 for people who receive an appointment from the NHS.

It will have capacity to administer about 250 jabs every day.

The supermarket firm said it would not reveal which store had been selected until closer to the time on the advice of NHS England, because of concerns staff would be bombarded with requests for appointments.

NHS England has also been offered the full use of Asda's 238 in-store pharmacies and qualified pharmacists to support the rollout of the Oxford/AstraZeneca vaccine.

CEO Roger Burnley said Asda was "incredibly proud" to support the vaccination programme.

On Monday, a mass vaccination centre opened at Birmingham's Millennium Point - one of seven across England.

Another 200k jabs today

Hopefully by the end of the week more people will have had their first dose than have had a positive test.. I know thats a meaningless statistic but certainly makes me feel better than we have overtaken its spread.

Need to feel positive

I know the feeling rich i will jump at the chance when its my turn.

SWMBO has been offered the jab next week and has reluctantly decided to have it, she is immunosuppressed and was hoping all the people where she works would jump at the chance unfortunately the flat earthers have put a lot of the younger ones off so she now thinks she would be better off risking having the vaccine than risk getting it off these morons.

There are very early signs that infections may have peaked - although as always we should be careful about reading too much into a few days' worth of data.
The past two days have seen newly diagnosed cases hover around the 46,000-mark. Up to the weekend, the average was close to 60,000.
The drop has largely been driven by falls in new cases in London, the South East and East of England.
The national picture does mask some regional differences. Cases are rising in the North West, which is causing particular concern.
It is too early for the vaccination programme to be having any significant impact so a combination of the national lockdown on top of the tier four restrictions that were imposed in some areas before Christmas look like they may be beginning to have an impact.
There is also some evidence the new variant may not be quite as fast-spreading as first feared - a Public Health England study suggested rather than being 70% more transmissible, it may actually be somewhere between 30% to 50%.
And, if it does represent the start of a continuous fall, it is important to remember it will still take some time to translate into fewer hospital cases - people being admitted at the moment are those who would have caught the virus a week or two ago.
But after six weeks of pretty sustained rises, it is at least an encouraging sign.
