What with lockdown, and me not seeing the Scottish side of the family for over a year, including my parents, pub quizzes and so on, we are making a lot of use of Zoom, Facebook messenger, WhatsApp etc

I have a spare raspberry pi that I want to utilise somehow, and was wondering if anyone had set one up along with a usb webcam and their lounge telly to make a sort of conference call system for Zoom etc? Obviously, I could Google it, but I thought I would check the HBF to see if anyone has any pointers?

apple bringing out the M1 chip may improve ARM support for many apps but as they also ship an emulator i fear that development will be slow. use 4 Pis for various applications but admit they are limited for certain things at the moment.

You can do this!

BUT running android os on the pi and I have only got messaging working plus I had to get a new sim to activate
So probably right as a non starter at the moment

My daughter uses a pi4 with a webcam for schooling. The camera has a microphone built in too and it works well on Google classroom in the chromium web browser.
Today she was doing conditioning training for her diving on zoom on it too again in the chromium browser.
It does work the pi4 CPU quite hard, I've not tried a pi3, I've got one spare but I'm not sure when I'll get time to try it.
The camera she uses is a P&U webcam from Amazon.
