    Confused newbie

Hi Dave, You can see a vid of John Palmer using a bottling bucket - method 2 in the video. This is how I approach it. I use this priming sugar calculator to work our how much sugar I will need. Beer Priming Sugar Calculator | Brewer's Friend I would have not have thought there will be too...

    Peach puree

I'd be wary if ending up with bottle bombs. Maybe something to try in the future.

    Peach puree

Sounds like a good approach. Thanks.

    Peach puree

I'm a simple bottler at the minute, sadly.

This is a late reply! I have just bought 2kg of Funkin' raspberry puree for a Porter recipe. Can I ask when you add your puree?

Do you find the internal thermometer reliable? I only use this to gauge temp at the minute.

    Quick sparge / Low OG

This does sound like this has happened. About 5kg of grist, 23lt mash, 12lt sparge. I used using a jug from a pan but then dumped a large amount direct from the pan at the end so it just sat on top and filtered through to the kettle. Lesson learned.

Hydrometer, seemed OK when in water, sadly :) Hydrometer. Seemed OK, sadly, in water. I had hydrated the wort, now that I think about it - with the drill add on. Might that have had an effect?

So, do you go for a fine crush, no sparge brew in the Grainfather. Never thought about trying that with the BZ35.

    Quick sparge / Low OG

I just transfer from buckets as I pre-treat the water with Campden. I just use the markings on the bucket to see how much goes in.

    Quick sparge / Low OG

    Makes sense!

I'm not actually sure how to read this chart, tbh. But, I'd never thought to check SG before moving to mash out.

    Quick sparge / Low OG

I brewed a beer using David Heath's APA grist this weekend, which should have come out at 1.050, but was 1.032 in the end. I suspect this was due to a quick sparge. My question is, would the sparge have this much impact or might there have been more wrong? Using Brewzilla 35, 65 degrees for...

    DMS in Budvar

Maybe skunked, yeah. Definitely something off. Not tried that Zywiec but will give it a try.

    DMS in Budvar

Bought 4 bottles of Budvar Budweiser this week from Lidl and they overwhelmingly tastes of celery/vegetables. A little research tells me this is indicative of DMS - could this be the case? Still learning about off flavours, but the taste is inescapable. Tastes like broth...
