    What is that smell?

The smell will probably go away, you do tend to get some odd aromas during fermentation. No need to make a starter from dry S04 for a beer of this size though, just adds another potential source of infection. Also, most advice is not to make a starter from dried yeast at all.

Its Gonna Be A Scorcher On Friday

I nipped into the office at 9:15 this morning and the car was already reading 33c!! I'm brewing tomorrow too, don't think the coil chiller is going to be much use...

Its Gonna Be A Scorcher On Friday

They're very tight, I'd have to drag my nuts over the coals to get them to catch.

33c here in Leicester. I'm in my pants and on the cheap San Miguel already, just about to light the barbie.

    First time brewing a hefeweissbier

As per the title, I'm doing a hefeweissbier for the first time tomorrow. Mainly following the Greg Hughes recipe, 23l using WLP300. Any experienced hefe brewers with tips particular to the style? I was planning on using a single pack of WLP300 with no starter as I believe underpitching is...

New fish here at home brewing and already made mistakes.

Sounds like you need to put the barrel somewhere warm (20c or so, room temperature) and leave it another couple of weeks. The sugar's still in there, the yeast's still in there, it'll carbonate given time and warmth. Also how much sugar did you add to prime it (to add carbonation)? If you...

    Has anyone tried this beer?

I'm assuming there's a chapter on poppers and buttplugs?

    Stinky Shoes

That's why I said regularly, I agree putting neat starsan on shoes is a bad (though probably entertaining) idea!

    Cost per pint

Drinking like that is a quick way to an early grave. Fair play though if you know the risks and you enjoy it.

    Stinky Shoes

It's acidic though, right? If you use regularly surely it'll damage your shoes.

What do you do for work where you can start drinking at 2pm? Early shifts?

Nitrous oxide: MP wants to see tightening of laughing gas laws

Like most things both are fine in moderation in my opinion.

Quite coincidentally Chippy has admitted to enjoying amphetamines further up this page!

Nitrous oxide: MP wants to see tightening of laughing gas laws

Pretty sure assault, drugs, domestic violence and disorder were pretty common when corporal punishment was still in place.

    Cost per pint

Disagree - if you spend £500 or so on equipment (cheaper all in one system, bucket fermenter, capper, recycled bottles etc) and you do 10 brews each yielding 50-60 330ml bottles of beer that you'd ordinarily pay a minimum £1.50 for you're getting close to breaking even. I do 10 brews in 6-7...
