These Ales of Wonder - 12th October 2024

I've given up on Clipchimp, just couldn't get the jerky video to stop. Gone over to Kapwing, and got a better quality.

These Ales of Wonder - 12th October 2024

Thanks @pilgrimhudd there are so many amazing British and Irish styles! Just got back from the pub where me and the lad shared mild, golden ale, bitter and stout. All lush!1 Don't get many Scottish beers down here in Norfolk, but off to Skye in the summer + can't wait to try them.

These Ales of Wonder - 12th October 2024

This year Norwich Amateur Brewers are going after 'Beers of Britain and Ireland' as the theme for our annual BJCP homebrew competition. We are calling it 'These Ales of Wonder'. Let me know if you get the reference. Once again we will be hosted by the amazing Ampersand Brew Co top brewers of...

    Lager Than Life 2024

@Leon103 everything was blinded, and no one judged their own beer at any stage. After initial judging, the beers were re-blinded for the minibos, and reblinded again for the bos. Gotta say it was really very professional - as we have come to expect from LAB events.

    Lager Than Life 2024

Had a lovely day out in London with the LAB folks yesterday. Some impressive beers. Things that interested me/my takeaways: - over half the judges had travelled internationally to be there. I judged with FInnish and Italian judges - they were excellent. - there were lots of NZ Pilsners - I've...

    Scottish National Homebrew Competition 2024

I had two beers in - A leichtbier and a dubbel. Both were fairly judged at mid-30s. I agreed with the feedback. Really well run event.

    Lager Than Life 2024

I really enjoyed judging at this one last year + there's a few of us Norwich Amateur Brewers folks planning to enter + go down and judge. LAB comps are always well run with the judges well looked after. <our hope is that judging a few lagers won't leave us wiped out at 5pm!>

Norwich Amateur Brewers - Brew Like A Monk (14 October 2023)

@Nottsbeer dunno what to say to that one! @Caramel Ox sorry. I've had a couple of reports of this. I took 50 similar envelopes to the post office and the staff checked one and said it was fine too go as a standard letter. This inconsistency of handling is frustrating.

Norwich Amateur Brewers - Brew Like A Monk (14 October 2023)

All along our vision has been for BLAM to be the best UK homebrew competition - for Norwich Amateur Brewers to be up there leading the way on the UK scene. Early on in our planning Rich tabled the idea of writing to all the entrants who had beer judged, giving them a personalised note and a...

We all had a great day. Grateful to all entrants and judges. And of course or sponsors. And the club.... What a joy to work with Dan, the head brewer at adnams, and discuss why that triple tasted of strawberry jam....
