    Water report Cornwall

Excellent! I'm always on the lookout for new, potentially naive, minds to poison. So... (WARNING: I'm about to wheel out the latest version of my "Defuddler". Some people might prefer to look away now). I've not got this version posted yet; just doing finishing touches to the "documentation"...

    Overnight mash on a grainfather?

I've had this conversation recently, it was with ... hang-on, I'll find it in a minute ... Ah! It was with ... err? You? 🤔 Anyway. Don't use it with me phone (the BT connection used to be lousy). Don't use it with the Internet (ever since they mucked up the software ages ago). All been fixed...

    Befuddled by the Defuddler

Why'd I say "... NOT CORRECT"? I should explain that a bit more ... an excuse another "pretty piccie". I like pretty piccies! "Hardness" comes from a time when there was no "Calcium", no "Sodium", etc. ... well, not an appreciation it actually exists. About the beginning of the 19th C. those...

Simple Water Treatment for an Idiot!

[This was meant to be an edit to another post ... don't know what I did to make it turn up here!* Ah well, same subject, now I'll need to find the one I meant to edit!] [EDIT2: Well, I sort of know how it might have messed up: I originally edited here, but moved it to a better place, then edited...

    Befuddled by the Defuddler

Damn, I'm missing that. I'll see if I can shoehorn it into the spreadsheet ... Have you got the chemical element "tag" for this "Viagra"? "Vi" is it? I can't seem to find it.

    Befuddled by the Defuddler

I've been working hard on my "water mineral" pre-processor ... the "Defuddler" (hey ... I can hear the groaning from here you know). Expanding it, making it simpler, making it more accurate, etc. I've been doing much of the work on the sister site to this one "HomeBrewTalk.com" 'cos there's more...

    Safale S33

Just so happens I have a fermentation trace for a beer about same strength and using S-33, and I only tracked it down a few days ago for another thread: A little bit longer than 24 hours, maybe 36? Stopped pretty abruptly (did the trace really bounce?). But bang-on normal for S-33, though I...

    The Homemade Pizza Thread

Wow ... been forgetting about the "Pizza Wars". So, I'm back! More-or-less over-came the change to my pizza flour (new year's harvest). It's crazy how a change like that can have such an impact on flour. Similar 40% Poolish (I adjust percentage using that "Pizza App" calculator so no water...

    Befuddled by the Defuddler

And ... still working on it! This was a whole lot harder than I first thought! Getting a decent "Alkalinity" reading for sub-100mg/l (as CaCO3) water, that is (the water companies will most likely be dosing such water with lime to get the pH up). The Hanns Alkalinity Checker I was putting so...

    Tilt/Grainfather temperature anomalies!

Think what you're doing! At 4C thermal convection currents go into reverse, and so there isn't much (any even) thermal convection for the Tilt to react quick enough to the impending freeze. "Cold Chilling" (hey, thanks for avoiding my trigger phrase! All that gawd awful "cras... ing") to below...

    Tilt/Grainfather temperature anomalies!

The Tilts themselves are not calibrated except at the factory, The client reading the Tilt has the configuration. It's multi-point configuration and as accurate as you wish to make it (within the tight limits of the device ... well within 0.5C). This is an oldish trace (July 2022) from a TiltPRO...

    Tilt/Grainfather temperature anomalies!

Wretched isn't it? We've been so cock-sure the thermometer is telling the truth and then we go and put more than one thermometer in it. One thermometer and everything is peachy. Two thermometers and I guess the beer must go down the drain. Try putting the fermenter in a...

    water additions

Well, I did. Stuffed it through this on-line calculator: Alkalinity Conversion Calculator - hamzasreefs.com Came out 7.2 ppm. That'll be as CaCO3 ... always is when not told, because those writing it will think there's nowt else. So that'll be just short 9 mg/l as bicarbonate ... close enough...

    water additions

@dad_of_jon: Although it's not "Alkalinity" you're testing for, I've just finished a tortuous session measuring my water this evening. Like I said, the Public Report gives very much like yours ... 20.83 mg/l as CaCO3 (25.42 mg/l as Bicarbonate). But I also said it won't be that at your tap (the...

    Befuddled by the Defuddler

Still working on it! I hope to post the new version of "Defuddler" within a week which I hope will meet your (@ARNWD ) needs. Meanwhile: Here's something it won't easily handle (sourced from US of America) ... The topic matter is well off-subject! The thing to note is six wells, from which...

    water additions

If my babblings have succeeded in getting a single person off using bottled water instead of using their very low alkalinity Welsh water, I should be proud of myself😁 ... bit worrying about the "farty smell" though. If the Campden tablet causes it, I'd be surprised as it's so little. You could...

Simple Water Treatment for an Idiot!

After months of inactivity on my "Defuddler" spreadsheet I renewed some effort to make it fit a different scenario. But I remembered the "Battle" water profile and thought I'd give it a go ... Despite the unusual water the new "Defuddler" has no problems extracting valid data from that water...

    Chest Freezer Fermentation vessel problems/questions

Of course you are! That's why the problem goes on, and on, and on ... "Everyone" loves an Inkbird. :groupdancing:What could they possibly do wrong?

    Chest Freezer Fermentation vessel problems/questions

You know. I'm off to dentist now, so I'm not starting another rant. There's loads of ranting about Inkbird on this forum (not just me!) going back to ... 2018 wasn't it? I think the conclusion was ... well, they're cheap.

    Chest Freezer Fermentation vessel problems/questions

Ah, I'm trying not to be too negative about them. But you're right ... They are just liars. (With reference to the ITC-308).
