    Black Pudding

I tried jellied eels once, never again 🤢 Although, as grim as some of the stuff mentioned here may be, I used to occasionally have the leftover beef dripping from a Sunday dinner on toast as a young 'un. Ah, the rare delicacy of getting the black crunchy bits amongst the greasy smearing of...

    Food additives

You lot use a blender? I always use a fork and whisk the bejesus out of it, a bit hard on the old arms but usually worth it in the end.

It's hazy, certainly, but I wouldn't go as far as to say it's hazy AF...

What are you drinking tonight 2025

A couple of whiskies, it's sort of become my Friday night tradition now... I really thought the Speyburn was going to come out on top, I've become a huge fan of their stuff, but the Glenfiddich really hit the spot, but then I'm a sucker for bourbon cask single malts.

What are you drinking tonight 2025

Same as yesterday, but with a slightly less lively pour. Basic light ale that went from primary, to cask, to keg. There I was thinking that I'd stumbled across some kinda revolutionary brewing technique, but after cursory research found out that it's a process as old as time. Oh well, it may...

    Milk

I'm a huge fan of organic milk rather than the standard stuff, I can comfortably get through a four pinter in the space of a few hours. The only issue I have with it, is when it goes south or even just starts to turn, it doesn't go obviously lumpy like the regular stuff but rather gradually...

    Milk

Definitely, around two pints a day on average, a pint right after a workout too which is also very helpful, apparently it boosts muscle energy absorption by something like 12%.

What are you drinking tonight 2025

I filled my first ever casks back at the start of December last year, just a basic light ale, and all went well enough. Started drinking them around Christmas, or maybe just before, and they were pretty good. The problem was, being inexperienced in such things, I'd severely underprimed them...

    Rubbish teabags

If it's Yorkshire Tea (I do drink it now and again) it would be C4 or C5 for me.

    Rubbish teabags

I'm sure I'm being unduly cynical, but I get the feeling that the old cheapo teas that were made using the discarded sweepings from the standard stuff has now in fact become the standard. What was previously standard is likely now being sold as a 'premium' range. I tend to get all my tea...

The 'Recommend me a TV series' thread

Just finished watching it last night, I thought it was very good, very much in the same gritty and gripping vein of the excellent 'Yellowstone' prequel series 1883. Hopefully there'll be a second series, it would certainly be interesting to explore some of the unresolved threads (although the...

    Black Pudding

I haven't had black pudding since I was a kid (really didn't like it then), looking at those pics though I'm very tempted to give it a try again, looks rather tasty.

What are you drinking tonight 2025

The first three are hazies, all quite nice, I'm definitely becoming a fan of the style. The next was a kolsch, my first time trying kolsch, not a fan. It tasted like a dog had a swim in the brewing vat. The last two are a Baltic porter and a Schwartzbier, I don't think I've had either of...
