Have I accidentally started the process of upgrading my equipment?

Lesson learned. When starting to clean out your Fermzilla after transferring your beer, make sure you release the pressure or you’ll first have to clean the cooker, the counter tops, the kitchen ceiling, the windows, any kitchenware that’s left out and yourself before you even can make a start...

Have I accidentally started the process of upgrading my equipment?

Just finished my first brew on the Brewzilla. Quite an enjoyable day all round, apart from the occasional snafu at the beginning and end of the day - starting the profile before I'd put the water in, thereby causing a thermal overload; blocking the pump with hops when trying to clean up...

Have I accidentally started the process of upgrading my equipment?

It's the 27L one, which is plenty for me (at the moment anyway, who can tell what the future may hold...) I've justified it to myself based on the cost of all the bits and bobs I'd need to buy, the time it's take to research all the bits and bobs I'd need, and the cost of having to buy more...

Have I accidentally started the process of upgrading my equipment?

(Bleary eyed, at 7:20 this morning, on the bus into Lockerbie, I placed an order for a Fermzilla…)

Have I accidentally started the process of upgrading my equipment?

Oh yes, that's what I'll be doing. I'll probably run it through a couple of times just using water to get au fait with setting up, running, and dismantling it. In the back of my mind I'm also thinking of modifying a fermenting bucket to allow closed transfer. There's a few options I've seen in...

Have I accidentally started the process of upgrading my equipment?

I'm not too worried about batch sizes, this should be plenty for my needs, at the moment anyway. It will be better than the way I brew at the moment... I'm also going to try to be a bit more methodical with what I'm doing too, less living on a wing and a prayer... I've got the Fyne Ales Jarl...

Have I accidentally started the process of upgrading my equipment?

Well, I have now managed to acquire a cheap, second hand, 30L tea urn from off of that eBay... And a 19L corny keg with Sodastream adaptor and 4L Oxebar from BrewKeg Tap... And, with the 35L Brewzilla now being back in stock at The Malt Miller, have placed an order for one and a few other...

Have I accidentally started the process of upgrading my equipment?

My thinking about going 3 vessel was that it'd be less of a "big bang" outlay over an AIO... I could get a brew kettle, still use the stockpot, and finally get round to converting the cheap cool box I got over a decade ago into a mash tun.. However, even writing that out makes it sound far too...

Have I accidentally started the process of upgrading my equipment?

I think that I may have accidentally started the process of upgrading my brewing equipment... Opening Ebay earlier today I saw a plate wort cooler. I throw on a high bid of £15, not expecting annoying of it only to find out a few hours later that mine was the winning bid... (£8 + £4.95 postage)...

Just Like Honey A couple of my old school friends have been beekeepers for the past while and have their own company, Oor Bees, (https://www.facebook.com/groups/1376258162464520) selling honey and wax products. Wanting to try to use some of their honey in a brew I had a look through the index...

    akdunbar Brewdays

Had to crack one open and try it today while brewing, may have needed to wait another week or two, but it still tasted good. Lovely and refreshing, orange and coriander flavour comes through nicely. Think I'll certainly make this again.

Aye to both, though it's a couple of years since I've been down to the bell, though I doubt that it'll have changed any!

(My main take away, when you think something may go skew-whiff you’re probably right. The iSlindel worked great. But rather than using the 5L Tesco water bottle as a fermenter I’d bought a new Browin 12L bucket - so of course not enough room for the iSpindel to sit properly in the wort!🤦

    ChatGTP Riesling Recipe question...

To be honest it was slight drunken thoughts, not really too serious. I might at some point look into making wine - probably from a kit rather than than supermarket ingredients - but it won't be for a few months...

Paint My Name in Black and Gold If I recall correctly, the first beer that I tasted was McEwan’s Export from a can when I would have been about fourteen or fifteen years old. And really since then this style of beer – Scottish Ales - has probably been the type of beer I’ve drunk most, whether...

Oh Breó, where art thou? Were you to spend any time in Ireland in the late ‘90s you may have come across that elusive white whale that was Guinness Breó. Advert for Breó Guinness spent about £5 million marketing this white whale of a beer, launched in 1998 and abruptly ending it in 2000...

Thought I'd jump in and bore anyone who stumbles over this thread... I'm just getting back into home-brew after sometime away - not that I did a massive amount back then - and very much regard myself as a newbie with just a little bit too much arrogance and overconfidence in his meagre abilities...

    ChatGTP Riesling Recipe question...

Oh, I know. I once spent 10 minutes arguing with it over something or other - can't remember what, I think it had something to do with The Wonder Stuff. In the end it had to conced that I was right and it was wrong...

    ChatGTP Riesling Recipe question...

Whilst enjoying a glass of Riesling this evening, I started wondering if it would be possible to make something that mimic it. Now, I have never before attempted to make a wine so really don't have much of a scoobie about how to go about it. I know I could have spent time searching this site...
