    beer gas

Just another thought for anybody looking for a different type of solution, but I’ve managed to get my gas cylinder from the company that services our fire extinguishers.

Does beer taste worse than before?

I've had the antibody test (privately) and tested positive from early March! It definitely tasted of something - just not the Landlord I thought I remembered. Perhaps rose-tinted taste bud memory.

Does beer taste worse than before?

I went to a pub in England this evening, for the first time in 100 days. It was my usual after tennis pint with my mates at the local and I was quite looking forward to a Timothy Taylor Landlord. However, huge disappointment. The beer tasted like some of my home brew when I drink it too soon...

I am potentially selling all the parts individually, so let me know if you are still interested in the stock pot. If not, no problem and I will relist it. Thanks.

    Forgot the Campden tablet again

I’ve triggered more of a discussion on this than I imagined. I’m always impressed at the quality of debate on here. Thanks everyone. I suppose in essence, the practical question I have is, having forgotten to put the campden tablet in before the mash, is there any way I can recover the...

    cold crash and chill haze

It’s fine to clean. I have a domestic kettle with a 1/2” BSP Tap fitted. I put boiling water through to sterilise before I use it, then I chill the wort, then I connect up the kettle again and put boiled water through it to push the remaining wort through and clean it at the same time.

    Forgot the Campden tablet again

I need to hook up a reminder when I am filling the hot liquor tank as there is a 50-50 chance that I will forget the Campden tablets, which I did again this weekend. I realise it is there to take the chlorine out of the water to avoid it reacting badly with the malt. Can anyone describe the...

    cold crash and chill haze

Just to clarify, when people talk about cold break I presume they mean the rapid chill from boil to FV temp. This precipitates proteins out of solution so I can see this might help. However I use a counterflow chiller rather than an immersion chiller. The latter would leave the precipitate...

    Fermentation Vessel

4 x Fast Ferment & 2 x 25L buckets for lagers that need to fit in the fridge.

    20L catering urn

Items still available if anyone else is interested. Note they all need taps and the canteen urn needs either a hole blank or a thermowell. Just add some way to chill and a fermentation vessel and you probably have the main things for a 3-Vessel All Grain set up.

    20L catering urn

Just weighed them all as best I can and I think each piece is around 3kg. I will need to look out for summer cardboard boxes. I’ll PM you to find out where you are.

I generally use Parcel2Go which gives access to different providers once you have told it what you want to send. New customers also get 10% off with the code "NEW10". Here are some quotes for them, but I will have to weigh and measure things later for you. It comes up with Hermes Next Day with...

    20L catering urn

It is still for sale at the moment - first come first served. NewerBrewer did ask about the stock pot but I've not heard back. It is not a complete starter kit of course as you will need other things, not least of all 3 x 1/2" taps (and a blank or a thermowell) for each of these vessels...

    20L catering urn

Here’s some not very close up shots of the stock pot in action, and its predecessor the cool box (before the new worktop and painted wall).

I thought I’d unveil my new logo to you all. I had a version I’d painted on my garage wall but I’ve just paid someone $20 through Upwork to tidy it up for me. I’m thinking of getting some circular stickers made to put on bottles/kegs. What do you think?
