It’s not very often that you try a beer that really blows you away, but have to agree my first glass of Rochefort 10 was one of those moments. Rodenbach Grand Cru was another.
Outside of Belgium I think Thornbridge Jaipur was a wow moment.
It was when lockdown had just started and people were stock piling toilet roll, hand sanitiser and bleach. I grabbed the last bottle of bleach in Asda and it was not anything I'd used before; domestos ultra white and sparkle. This stuff will just not come off, no matter how many times you try...
I’ve tried many bittering hops over the years and l find magnum just gives a nice clean bitterness. I’ve used first gold, Apollo & northern brewer recently. All pretty good, but magnum is my favourite bittering hop. I like using challenger for bittering too in English type ales.
Brewed a kolsch today, probably just a pale ale but with kolsch yeast! Safale k97 second gen top cropped
2kg golden promise
3.5kg Maris otter
20g magnum 60m
30g cascade FO
10g sorachi ace FO
10g chinook FO
made another pale ale with california common yeast. Same malt...
I tried my Sorachi Ace Kolsch last night for the first time and it is very lemony! To the point of being maybe too lemony! I only added 25g in the last 5 minutes. This hop is strong stuff.
made another Kolsch today. This time I used 30g cascade, 10g sorachi ace and 10g chinook at flame out.
Made a Kolsch with Sorachi Ace the other week and got half a bag left. Looking for something to pair them up with in a pale ale. I believe some have had good results with Cascade. Also read online that a mix 3/1/1 of Cascade / Sorachi Ace / Chinook works well. Anyone found any other good combos?
Fargo was great and loved the series that followed it! Anything the Cohen brothers do is pure class! On a similar theme we’ve just finished the second season of Lillehammer. It’s like a cross between Fargo and the Sopranos! Highly recommended!
Yeah I quite enjoyed venom and I’m really not a fan of super hero movies. I think they’ve been done to death. Didn’t know there was a sequel coming out. I’ll keep an eye out for that. Tom Hardy is just brilliant in everything though. One of my favourite actors. i think one of his best movies...
I remember back in the 80's, I asked my future mother-in-law, who was unfamiliar with beefy drinks at the time, to make me a bovril, and she put milk and two sugars in it. It didn't taste too bad actually!
I remember watching that Antuofermo Vegas fight. I think I was 9 at the time. The first time I'd really seen a full fight. We watched it on a tiny black and white portable telly in my mates bedroom, where we had to keep adjusting the arial on top to get a better picture. What a battle though...
