Size of Erlenmeyer conical flask for starter

I have a 3 litre flask , working on the basis that you can fit 2 litres in a 3litre flask but can't fit 3 litres in a 2 litre. It does of course also depend on the size of your batches and the gravity, if you were making high gravity lagers and cool fermenting a 3 litre might not be big enough...

    Elderflower Cider

Next time you make some could try adding say 1.5g of sod met to 23 litres before bottling. My wine kits suggest this as an option if you are keeping the wine for longer than 3 months to help preserve taste and aroma. I have been underwhelmed by the two mangrove jacks kits I made. The other was...

    Elderflower Cider

Mangrove jacks do a elderflower and lime cider and that was underwhelming to say the least. If I get elderflowers I make elderflower champagne, if I wanted it a bit appley or cidery just top up with cider. Then you have a combination of drinks.

    Fermzilla 30L All rounder ?

How about just stacking the ice boxes around the AR and then just wrap the whole lot up in some bubble wrap and blankets. That'll do it without having to move the fermenter and stir it all up.

Solenoid Valves / DIY Autosparge System

Could just fit a switch to the ball valve and clamp the ball valve to the side of the kettle, use a low voltage ciruit.

    Fermzilla 30L All rounder ?

Doubt any harm done, once went to 35 psi when spunding valve not able to work due to my setup error. Higher pressure seems to mitigate against the side effects of higher temps. I use this calculator https://drhansbrewery.com/beercarbonationcalculator/ and set the final spunding pressure for...

    Grainfather Electric Grain mill

Mmm and a nice bit of space on that board for some cheese and biscuits.

Reusing Doombar mini keg for homebrew ?

Try and track down something like this in the UK, https://www.supercheapauto.co.nz/p/sca-sca-water-carry-can-10-litre-blue/340673.html?cgid=SCN01040902 convenient tap site at bottom and modifiable top for a gas post, will hold a few psi, food safe and no metallic tang. Planning on using one for...

Solenoid Valves / DIY Autosparge System

I had this suggested to me as a way to control liquid level with a pump. Not tried it but recommended by MHB on aussie forum...

    Ferment temperature went crazy… ruined?

Probably will do as some of the hop residue and yeast falls out of suspension.

    PB carbonation help

Do be aware that if cold crashing in an open fermenter ( with airlock ) as the beer cools you will get a lowering of pressure in that vessel and airwill go in through the airlock. You need to mitigate against that otherwise your beer will be clear and on the fast track to ruin.

    lager brew

Do you have a hydrometer to check the gravity? What yeast are you using ? If hydrometer is in the correct range for the brew plan and yeast attenuation and it's had a diacetyl rest ( 16 C ) for five days or so, could be ready to bottle. True lager making is a slow and resource intensive (...

    Fermzilla 30L All rounder ?

My routine is to pressurise the fermenter to about 10 psi after the yeast is pitched to check for leaks and dial in the spunding valve, allows you to set it to whatever your start pressure is going to be. If I want a beer to have some yeast expression esters etc then I don't put any pressure on...

    Ferment temperature went crazy… ruined?

Yes I watched that a while ago it's impressive. Another advantage of the bags is you can lift them out and they drain, so you'll get a bit less loss in the fermenter. If you can get it to work reliably though go for it.

I agree @Buffers brewery about overcarbed. @Daddynoob Can you see the lid slightly bulging up it does if the pressure is high. ALso you say temp 25-28 in fridge and you left door open. Is that F and you were wanting it warmer of fermenting and you were leaving fridge door open to cool it...

    Ferment temperature went crazy… ruined?

Not a bad idea about the stir bars. Not sure the hops will deteriorate, closed vessel under pressure and only a few days. NEIPA I made with kveik was full of flavour. I'd give it a go at some stage. Trouble with hops you want them to sink they float and vice versa. Could try really high...

What do people use to help clear their beer?

Agreed Clarity ferm ( same as clarex I think ) useful for chill haze prevention, I don't bother with it for dark or hazy beers. Does reduce gluten a lot as well for the gluten sensitive.

    Ferment temperature went crazy… ruined?

Wouldn't bother with the pot to put the hops in. Use it for taking yeast and trub out. Put the hops in a bag with magnets then you can pull them into the beer and also take them out when needed. It's far easier. Also how did you ensure no oxygen got in when you added the hops? You can get the...

You can look at this calculator to give you a rough idea of what you could have got with your priming https://www.brewersfriend.com/beer-priming-calculator/ and this for general carbonation related to temperature. Beer Carbonation Calculator There is a formula for working out how much CO2 is...
