    How stupid can you get?

I had a good friend who had the religious fanatic at his door. He asked them, “do you believe that I will go to hell if I don’t join your sect.” The response was, “yes.” He then said, “do you believe I will go to heaven if I do”. yes was the response. He replied,” well put me down for hell...

First timer with small orchard seeking advice on cider

I searched the forum for “freezing apples”, and found the thread about the info I referred to above.

First timer with small orchard seeking advice on cider

I did read on this forum that one member used to chop up their apples and then put them in poly bags and freeze them. They then defrosted them and pressed them. They reckoned the juice yield was higher than scratting. I haven’t tried myself. With regard to au natural fermentation I’ve had...

    Elderberry Turbo Cider

Slid, Thanks for the response. I’ve made Elderflower Turbo in the past, and it’s quite drinkable. I thought that the berries might have made a red version. The lack of recipe on the net suggests, as you have done, that it’s a non-starter.

    Elderberry Turbo Cider

Does anyone have an Elderberry Turbo Cider recipe? I’ve done a Google search and it doesn’t return anything that is usable.

    Cider too acidy!

If you have a large volume of cider, and a bottling bucket, then siphon your cider off the sediment into the spare sterilised bucket. If you then know the volume of siphoned cider in litres, then dissolve 10g per litre of white sugar into some hot boiled water and then add this to the bulk...

First timer with small orchard seeking advice on cider

I use a garden shredder as a scratter. I got my first one for £10 off gumtree. They are easy to disassemble. I do this and clean the metal parts in hot soapy water, rinse and then mist with starsan, before reassembly. After I’ve finished scratting I disassemble again, wash, dry and store the...

    Angela Rayner on the Tories

You’re right, it is singable. I aren’t planning on rewriting it though to make it rhyme.

    Angela Rayner on the Tories

Conservatives like their catchy 3 word slogans. Whilst they aren’t slogans, they are a snapshot of how I’ll remember the current government. Called General Election Won quite convincingly Oven ready deal First lie uttered Got Brexit done Drivers went home Agricultural workers too...

    Angela Rayner on the Tories

I’d like to add fuel to this debate, but having been to 5 petrol stations, I still don’t have any.

Well it won’t be Anneliesse Dodds if James Gray has his way! Now that’s a real Scum bag, with murderous thoughts. https://www.oxfordmail.co.uk/news/19606166.tory-mp-apologises-suggesting-bomb-planted-oxford-mp-anneliese-dodds-office/

    Are you a true Northerner

3/ 10 for me. Q 11 - Region specific (Yorkshire) should be : ”Are you proud of being tight”. After all the true definition of a Yorkshire man, is a Scotsman stripped of his generosity.

What’s the difference between Emma Raducanu and Prince Andrew? Emma isn’t scared of a US Court!

    Cider Fermentation and Yeast Selection.

I used Bigger Jugs cider yeast. I got 100g for around £7 last year. I used a couple of teaspoons in 23 litres and stored the excess yeast in its own bag inside another resealable bag in the fridge. I’ve since used it to make several turbo batches as well. Have you tried Freecycle.org for...

    No covid jab

My old Secretary was born on Boxing Day. Anyone who bought her either a combined present for Birthday and Xmas, or a household present, e.g. a Vax, got hit with it. For their first wedding anniversary her husband bought her a set of top of the range saucepans, He reckons he has still got the...

Covid the jab and the final stage.

Gunge, Strangely enough, and by mutual consent, Scotland is not bothered about you either. I read the comment by Foxbat that you are a wind up merchant.

    So who's growing chillies 2021?

Cheers I’ve just sprayed it and rubbed as many as I can off it. It will get dunked later, but not in my bottling bucket.

    So who's growing chillies 2021?

Can I ask? Is the picture below a greenfly, or other nasty, infestation. The plant is an Apache Chilli that I brought for not much cash out of Homebase. It was fruiting well, and has stopped flowering. I’ve been away for the weekend and returned to find these bugs on the fruit and the leaves...

    Tea.

I once put a litre cafeteria of Italian Coffee in a cheap stout kit and 500g of Extra Dark Malt. That became my nightly coffee for 40 days. It tastes far better than anything you can make in a <£100 coffee machine. As far daily daytime beverage I’ll whatever is on offer.
