Over did it with bittering hops

I am told that you should test your water regularly as the source could change during the year.

Over did it with bittering hops

I doubt if many people are accustomed to seasoning beer with salt.

Over did it with bittering hops

You said "worth trying? ". You were questioning it. You didn't say you had done it and it works. It is not hard to add salt to beer but it would be good to know how much you added when you did it.

First AG beer didn't go well 🤦‍♂️

You could have "liquored back", i.e. added water at the end of the boil to get to your anticipated S.G. and volume. There is a calculator on brewer's friend. Have you got your next brew on yet? The more you practice the better your beer will be.

Over did it with bittering hops

Salt is sprinkled on sliced aubergines and courgettes before cooking to draw the bitter liquid from them. It is then usual to rinse the salt off before cooking. I don't see how that would work with beer.

    Malt crush for Grainfather

I have read and understood all of your post but still can't see the connection between being able to read a book and use a feeler gauge. I can see how some with no common sense might struggle, but that has nothing to do with being able to read. People with and without common sense can read and...

    Malt crush for Grainfather

I'm not sure what prompted you to say it, but I am sure, in the past that many people would have been able to use a feeler gauge (and so understand how they work) while not being able to read.

    Malt crush for Grainfather

Yes, you have. The feeler gauge shouldn't be clamped tight. It's difficult to describe, there should be some resistance when you pull them out, but it shouldn't be difficult. I learned by an experienced mechanic holding the gauges while I withdrew them.

    Greg Hughes recipes

I had my first bottle of Winter Warmer last night, for quality control purposes, it has only been in the bottle two weeks and it's not winter yet. I brewed it with brown sugar rather than honey and Fuggles instead of Progress hops, because that's what I had. I think it is going to be a great beer.

Anyone used fresh home grown hops?

Lots of people have brewed with fresh hops. The rule of thumb is to use 3 times the quantity of dry hops.

    Lager, NOT larger!

We could just say "you are talking rubbish" when we hear someone use a phrase that begs the question.

    Lager, NOT larger!

To quote wikipedia "In modern vernacular usage, however, begging the question is often used to mean "raising the question" or "suggesting the question" . Maybe you need to accept that language changes over time, boiling **** isn't good for you.

I have a sour dough starter that I use for various breads and pizza dough. I must remember that now I am retired I don't have to wait for the weekend to make pizzas. Everyday is Saturday, I could have pizza any day when the weather is fine.
