Conditioning and carbonating in Corny Keg -process check

Couldn't agree more, from FV I keep the corny around the 12 degrees serving temp and 12 PSI (little bit more if its lager). Purge 3 times and always keep the Co2 connected. Serve after 2 weeks, carbonation is always great and if its and IPA/Lager it is crystal clear.

    Bonfire Toffee Stout Problem

I am pretty good at taking from low down but I think the issue here is similar to posted above. Mine was 40 pint kit and I am sure it said 6% on packaging but website says 4%

    Bonfire Toffee Stout Problem

Agreed matey, mine was the 40 pint kit and after brewing to instructiont both ispindle and hydrometer came in at OG 1.045. This finished way short of the 6% ABV, landed about 4.5%. Not the biggest fan, far too smoked with the oak chips and the toffee is simply too sweet for a stout. Been in...

    Stout kit

Youngs American Mocha Porter all day long, stuck them in 500ml PET and after 2 months in bottles it is incredible 👏

    Chocolate stout

Done the St Peters it's a great kit, if you like coffee with your chocolate, I haven't come across a better kit than the American Mocha Porter (Youngs). Miles better than the St Peters, but you have to like coffee 👍

Dark Rock, rivals the premium kits IMHO

    Re: St Peters Cream Stout

Ideally try stop the leak and leave it for 2 weeks for secondary fermentation, I know it's difficult not to try a drop 🤣. You won't need to add anymore sugar. When it comes to drinking time try a pint and add Co2 if it's needed.

    Re: St Peters Cream Stout

Did you add sugar directly to the pressure barrel for secondary fermentation? If so no further Co2 needs adding until you start dispensing.

Good luck, it will be fine

    Re: St Peters Cream Stout

No kits are balanced for the correct amount of yeast and nothing needs adding apart from the ingredients supplied. (Unless you a pimping it up!) A good stir and a take a reading on your return. Mine finished shy around the 1.015 mark at which I bottled. This is a good tasting beer, from my...

    Re: St Peters Cream Stout

Very Common with those kits. Lift the lid, give it a stir with a sanitised spoon etc. Try avoid disturbing the yeast cake at the bottom. Return the lid and you should see movement again over the coming days bringing you closer to the 1.015 mark

Thats the thing, it really does pack a punch. Those were my doubts exactly, I notice that it does contain hop boost

They have done the part grain and full grain for quite some time, just make sure you get their enhancer with the one can kits.

Dark Rock, rivals the premium kits IMHO

Tried this kit after watching a Partridge Brothers review. Approx £20 ish for the kit and Dark Rock enhancer. This contains hop boost, Harris Pure Brew and head retainer. I use Harris Pure Brew in all my 40 pint kits, to me it really does reduce the homebrew twang plus provide a constant...

Cheap kits sub 14£, never again !!!

Pay a couple of pounds more and these kits are fantastic, it's had me move away from the £27 premium kits

Ispindel readings going the wrong way...

Has the wort hardened on the lid adding weight to the tilt? You are quite right, should go up a few points after 12hrs then decline. Mine has fallen victim to dried yeast under heavy activity. Lift it out, clean it, sterilise and drop back in

    Your next brew ?

Razorback just finishing up in the FV then going in the Corny Brewferm Winter Ale (small batch) going in the spare FV then 6 months conditioning in PET bottles - My Christmas tipple Dark Rock West Coast Pale Ale with their enhancer on order. Saw it on the Dog & Partridge review and it looked...
