    Deformed Fermentersaurus

The grain storage PET vessels just have a slight imperfection, nothing that should stop you using it as a pressure vessel.

    Proper roasted potatoes

Just adds an extra flavour, I often boil my spuds first with a teaspoonful of turmeric in the water.

Why you shouldn’t be lazy (or cocky!)

I have done similar, should make sure the sanitiser is up to scratch as it deteriorates. I use proxitane and the shelf life isn't to long, recommended is a year. I have kept it for two and its been fine, just pushed my luck a little too far and lost two batches. Reminded me of Kramer on the test...

If that fails get a syringe and suck some beer up and squirt it back, makes like a draught beer. Also works if your beer is over carbonated too. Replaces the co2 with nitrogen.

All I could suggest then is to hot steep some carapils, just a couple of hundrde grams and add tht to your kit, see if that improves it.

I am unfamiliar with kits, are they kits consisting of grains pre milled and hops?

What are you drinking tonight 2022?

Stinking hot day here today, had to break out something I can drink ice cold. Kolsch, not particularly keen on the stuff, but it does what it is supposed to do, quench a thirst. To me this is the Colonel Sanders of beer, when you've had a few you wished you hadn't bothered. Nice head and lacing...

Getting the pH around 5.3, use some dextrin malt (carapils) dough in at a higher temperature as possible to bring your mash to temperature.

    Reusing harvested trub/yeast

Personally I wouldn't be using it, the jar its been kept in looks pretty manky and not even filled to the top. Is it really worth taking the risk?

    Grain basket for Klarstein fullhorn

In my early days of brewing I used one of these in a boiler. Drilled hundreds of 2mm hole in the bottom. Fine up to 80 C if I remember right.

Summertime for me. Corn, tomatoes, dig the spuds as we need them.

Ideas on upgrading on the cheap...

Instead of a pressure barrel use a cube for cask ale.
