Graham Wheeler - Brew Your Own British Real Ale - BYOBRA - Yeast Selection

I have found the answer and terminology on a different site and it does appear that the yeast in bottles of HPA is " primary strain" and I was overlooking St Austell Proper Job.

Graham Wheeler - Brew Your Own British Real Ale - BYOBRA - Yeast Selection

Can anyone advise please regarding a pale ale conditioned in the bottle with a yeast which can be successfully be reprocessed? One of the best beers I have ever brewed was with Fullers 1845 yeast and I would like to do the same with a pale ale and was wondering specifically about Wye Valley HPA...

Hmm I got the name of the beer very slightly wrong. Must have Diane on my mind!

Just cracked a can of Abbott ale. In theory cans should be better than bottles as no chance of skunky flavours nor oxidation but I still prefer bottles somehow.

The original contents of this bottle were good but so is the AG Citra just poured out of it! Only one left now but it's been around since last August so some willpower was involved!

Now a very clean gold from Bowness brewery by courtesy of a son who lives in the Lake District.

Now the best imaginable souvenir of Wales! A quad American hopped bottle conditioned IPA at 5.8% on the 4 four for £6 deal at Morrisons. Very nice but I would not risk two!

What are you drinking tonight 2022?

I have it on good authority from my wife that Aldi St Etienne 0% is not bad plus it comes in 500ml bottles!

What are you drinking tonight 2022?

My resolve has not wavered despite this Dark Rock Session Aussie Gold being rather better.

What are you drinking tonight 2022?

I am grateful to Mangrove Jack for inspiring a new year's resolution I will be able to keep. No more kit beer! This is their pils which at 7 weeks is still not very inviting.

Apologies for two views of my not very attractive utility room!

What are you drinking tonight 2022?

Today was a brew day on my 37 year old Electrim bin which was a marathon and an obstacle course not least because it is fiendishly difficult to maintain a steady mash temp. Anyway did a simple AG English bitter which is chugging the airlock after 4 hours! While clearing up I had a kit beer then...

Back in WV and downed a Spitfire at the speed of sound then almost as fast with my AG Citra!

What are you drinking tonight 2022?

Staying Celtic with this one which I like anyway but even better by being poured into the same glass as the last one with a hoppy drop left to lift it!

What are you drinking tonight 2022?

Last night in Wales for a week or two so have to start with a Welsh one which is a cracking combination of cascade columbus and centennial. I will try to refill the bottle with something similar but I fear it will be a pale shadow though the label is pretty!

    How Much Grain?!?!

It may of interest to look at Worcester Hopshop's website and click onto the all grain kits. The contents of each kit are listed so in effect recipes are there for all to see and could obviously be scaled down pro rata for smaller batches.
