    Thank you. I’ll do that.

    Wilco merlot

I’m starting off another Wilko Merlot 6 bottle kit this weekend. When I did the first one, I followed the instructions, which advised I only half fill the demijohn for the first week because the fermentation is more than a tad vigorous and then top it up once it’s calmed down a bit. The only...

    Winebuddy Merlot

i agree. I’d left it for a couple of months and as I said, it was pretty insipid. The difference now however is immense. It’s a very nice wine.

    Winebuddy Merlot

One of my first forays into the world of home brew wine making was the 6 bottle WineBuddy merlot kit. I started it off in January 2021, and bottled it in February 2021, where it came out at 11.8%. After 3 months, I tried a bottle and it was more like a weak rose than a merlot, so I put the...

    Carrot wine

in the end, I had almost enough for 5 bottles, so I just added a little water to the demijohn and filled the five. I’ve now just going to wait until December to try it. (-:

What are you drinking tonight 2022?

I‘m salivating just looking at that brew! It looks lovely.

    Carrot wine

I’ve just racked off this carrot wine that’s now ready for bottling tomorrow, but I’m not sure I’m going to get a full five bottles out of it. I’d be grateful for suggestions as to what I could top up the fifth bottle with to make it a full bottle. I don’t want to use water,, so would rather use...

    New IPA kit

I‘ve left mine a little longer than a week, and the taste is really nice, with almost a nuttiness to the flavour. The only problem is that my other half has declared she likes the taste of it. Does anyone have any suggestions of how to hide 38 bottles of home brew (besides drinking them!)

What are you drinking tonight 2022?

A glass or six of The Range IPA. I bottled it about 8 weeks ago and it came out at 5.4%. There’s a very subtle sort of nuttiness to the taste, and it’s very quaffable.

    New IPA kit

Ive just tried a bottle and it’s not half bad. I think it may benefit frim another week in the bottle, but I’m not going to split hairs over it. I’ve also just tried a bottle of my MJ pink grapefruit IPA, which was done about a month before the Range kit, and that is just flipping lovely. Happy...

    New IPA kit

All in all, it’s an excellent kit for just £14.99.

    New IPA kit

Hiya Andy, I’ve not long done my MYO IPA kit. It’s been in the bottle for about 7 or 8 weeks now, and I’ll probably be sampling a few this weekend. I had intended to try it before now, but I’ve had sciatica for the past 6 weeks, and because I was on painkillers, they don’t really mix with...

    First timer from Wales

    If there‘s froth, then there’s fermentation! (-:

    First timer from Wales

This may seem like a daft question, but have you snapped the lid around the top of the fermenting bin to ensure no air escapes, other than through the airlock? I only ask, as I made that mistake. I was waiting for the airlock to bubble, only to realise that I hadn’t secured the lid properly and...

    Carrot wine not fully cleared

I only put it in that demijohn on Monday evening. It had been in the previous demijohn for about 4 weeks. The fermentation had ended, and the sediment was all on the bottom of the demijohn.. I racked it off and degassed it before adding the finings.

    Carrot wine not fully cleared

Thanks both, I only racked it off on Monday evening and put in the finings. As for the headspace, I’m not sure what to top it up with.

    First timer from Wales

Hiya Wolfspark, just give it a bit of time and as someone has already said, the instructions can sometimes be a tad optimistic. I’m sure it’ll start fermenting soon. What part of Wales are you from? I’m in the Rhondda.

    Carrot wine not fully cleared

I’ve done a carrot wine which has come out at 14.4%. I used pectolase at the beginning but after I degassed it, I also added finings over 24 hours ago to make sure it cleared. However, as you will see from the attached picture, the clearing appears to have stuck. Any ideas or suggestions please?
