    Brewers caramel

Hi there I'm an avid kit brewer (unfortuately don't have the time or space to go AG). I do mostly ales and stout but do the odd lager for friends. Although my lagers taste great they seem to be very light in colour so I've got some brewers caramel. There's no instructions so I was wondering...

    Temperature issues.

I finished a Wherry recently and had the same issues as you. I left it about 6 weeks after moving to a barrel but I would recommend leaving it where it is going to be served so as not to disturb the sediment and aid clearing. (I find my kitchen to be the coolest area - not by much though)...

    Coopers Australian Pale Ale?

Yeah nothing's changed much, don't recommend anyone come here for the day unless they want to see how seaside towns used to look before electricity was invented ;)

    Coopers Australian Pale Ale?

Again, I think it depends. In my experience (I aereate the water well enough whilst mixing), the chlorine must dissipate and our water co don't use chloramines in our area so that one isn't a problem. I've never yet had the "TCP" smell or taste in my brews - maybe I'm just lucky.

    Coopers Australian Pale Ale?

If only! There's hardly any festivals in my neck of the woods and obviously driving to one is a definite no no... :nono: Will be buying some more equipment soon so I can host one of my own for friends and family :drink:

    Coopers Australian Pale Ale?

priming sugar depends on how gassy you want it to be and it will also increase the strength slightly. As it is an ale, I would not want it to be too gassy. Your barrel shouldn't explode as it should have a pressure relief valve in the lid but I would not use any more than 120g max or it might...

    Coopers Australian Pale Ale?

It is definitely an ale not a lager in the style of an IPA(but an A instead of an I as it is Australia not India). 50g of goldings should do the trick but don't overdo it on the elderflower - 10g recommended by bluejam above. It will be absolutely fine in your pressure barrel - this is my...

    First brew on the go

I think you are right in that the top part of the airlock doesn't need to be on too tight. On your hydrometer it should tell you what temperature it is calibrated at - mine is 20C that is the temperature your wort should be to get an accurate hydrometer reading but it is close enough if the...

    Wheat beer question

either buy another kit and add about 3/4 of it to the brew and give it a good stir or drink a very weak beer... I reckon they're about your only options i'm afraid
