Cascade, EKG and Prima Donna Rhizomes for Sale

Mine has finally developed a shoot! Do I expect further shoots or just the 1? It is a lot larger in diameter than I imagined; around 2mm. When I grow chillis, the shoots are a fraction of the size! It's still in my garage, with a light on it. Will stick it outside once I am confident the...

Cascade, EKG and Prima Donna Rhizomes for Sale

I am in absolutely no rush so I will just wait it out! It is still totally hidden under the soil, in the garage, away from the frosts and cold. It is particularly cold right now so maybe it is just dormant for now. Will re-assess once the temperatures are more reasonable. Thanks

Cascade, EKG and Prima Donna Rhizomes for Sale

Just wondering how long until I might expect to see a shoot?! Planted it the same day I received it into a large pot full of new topsoil. Watering it every 3 days. Pot is drained and I am careful not to over water which I read is a common problem. It is inside the garage right now a few degrees...

    Strange-steve's Homebrew Reviews

I am glad you liked it Steve! I set off another, using the conan strain you sent me. I am hopeful for it. That's right Stig, I sent you one unannounced and un-labelled :) Stig was actually the influence for me creating that DNEIPA. I basically did it as an amplified version of the standard...

    Conan x WLP644 Hybrid Yeast

I brewed with this yeast over the weekend, will update with results in the weeks to come. It harvested excellently, stepped up from 200g water and 10g of DME, then to 500g water and 50g DME. I drank the resulting beer from my starter and it was great. Hopefully it will do well in the NEIPA.

    Conan x WLP644 Hybrid Yeast

Mine arrived today, nice one thanks!

    Dneipa

What is your dry hop technique? Chuck them in and leave until bottle day? Spider? Loose? Thanks

    Dneipa

I cracked this open last night, great brew! Certainly masked that 8.5% well. Really smooth. I will use your recipe as a base for this weekends brew - the only thing I will do is add a touch more to the dry hop. PM me your address, I will be bottling the current single NEIPA this weekend :)

    Dneipa

Ah I hadn't realised yours was a double NE! Excellent. Mine is currently still fermenting, will do the first dry hop today. Maybe I will take your recipe and go from there, thanks.

    Dneipa

Morning All, Now that I am having more success with NEIPA, I was considering trying a double version of it. First question: My NEIPA comes out around 4.5%. 60% higher would give me 7.2% so is it a simple case of upping my grain bill by 60%, or should I actually be adding corn sugar as a...

    Conan x WLP644 Hybrid Yeast

Sure, though I only have left some bottled batch 2 (from the week before batch 3) which isn't as good (wrong water conditioning, higher mash temp). Want to wait until my batch 4 is ready?

    Conan x WLP644 Hybrid Yeast

Still interested here. I am brewing round 4 of my NEIPA this weekend. My latest attempt was really getting close, it is nicer than some I have purchased! (finally getting there). Trying WL007 this time. Then will try yours next time.

    My NEIPA #2

I started another batch yesterday: Title: NEIPA attempt #3 Brew Method: BIAB Boil Time: 50 min Batch Size: 5 L (fermentor volume) Boil Size: 7 L No Sparge FERMENTABLES: 500 g - United Kingdom - Pale Malt 450 g - United Kingdom - Crisp Pale Ale Malt 50 g - United Kingdom - Caramalt 250 g -...

    My NEIPA #2

First dry hop last night, was 3 days in. Fermentation is still steadily slow.

    My NEIPA #2

Good to know! Fermentation is still going steadily at the reduced rate. I know not the best gauge, but a bubble in the airlock every ~15 seconds. I am tempted to re-do the brew this coming weekend. With just 1 gallon batches, its not much effort. That way I can get the water right plus try...

    My NEIPA #2

I forgot to add my fermentation temperature. 22.5 degrees, stable. White labs website states 68F (20C). That may also attribute to the fast ferment I saw. I will know more when I get home tonight.

    My NEIPA #2

How strange, 3 days is rapid! I can still see movement (bits going up and down) but no airlock activity. So, its still active certainly, but not vicious. Do you have a link to the recipe you used? I used the same yeast, plus 20% oats in this. I wonder if there is a pattern?

    My NEIPA #2

Stopped entirely? As in, reached final gravity? Or just slowed right down?

    My NEIPA #2

One question regarding the fermentation of this style. I pitched the starter, that same evening it was buzzing with activity. 24 hours later (last night) it was much the same. This morning, 36 hours later, it has tailed off a great extent. Obviously still active, just nowhere near as ferocious...
