    Best Cleaner?

What are we using to soak all the gunk off kegs these days guys? Just used a Fermenter King and the neck is too tight to get my arm into so need something to get rid of all the mess in there.

Fermenter King Junior - Scary Krausen!

Thanks guys! Moving it to the fridge today for a few days so fingers crossed it will drop back a bit. Coming clean, this is my first time trying a Magrove Jack kit. I’ve brewed BIAB all grain for the past decade but just been really pushed for time of late and keen to get back into brewing...

Fermenter King Junior - Scary Krausen!

Hi guys Been a while since I posted here. Fell off the home brew train for a while but back in the game now. I picked up a fermenter king junior - the idea being to brew and serve from the same vessel for the time being until I pick up another one (out of stock everywhere) but a week after my...

    Drained gas tank

My Co2 cylinder has drained overnight! :? It's been plumbed in fine since back in November when I last swapped tanks but for some reason it's emptied over the space of a day. Clearly a leak, but how do I pinpoint where? I'll have to buy a new tank today but don;t really want that one to drain...

Dry hopping in the FV vs Corny keg

Do you leave it in there until the beer is gone? I've done that by accident before and did not notice any off flavours - even after several months! I tend to dry hop in the secondary now - a week or two and then into the corny.

Just couldn't get the hop flavour through.....

How long since you brewed? I find that hoppy pale ales take a little while to develop the aromas. You can drink them 4-5 weeks form brewing but they are better 6-8 weeks in - flavour and aroma really seem to pop out after a while.

    squirty cream!

Set a keg of beer to carbonate at 35psi then completely forgot bout it for 2 weeks! Doh! Just went to pour a glass yesterday and was rewarded with a glass of foam the consistency of squirty cream!!

Using Oak Whisky Barrel Chips - My Thoughts...

Sorry - forgot to report back. I ended up leaving the chips for just over two weeks and then left the beer to condition for another fortnight. Ideally I would have waited longer but I wanted it ready for Xmas. The result was fantastic. Could not have been happier. The oak gave a mellow warmth...

    Dry Hopping variations and options

I put a tied-up muslin bag full of hops in the base of a secondary and rack the beer onto it. Then sits for a week or two before being racked into a corny keg.

    Doggy Style Pale Ale

This recipe is one from the 'Clone Brews' book so I cannot take any credit for this Flying Dog clone. It is, however, the best pale ale I've brewed and I've made it four or five times now. It's taken over as my 'house' brew that I always have on tap. Well worth a shot if you like the hoppy...

    Leaky Poppet?

One of my corny kegs leaks gas when I disconnect from the keg. I've swapped the O-ring but it still leaks. Could be a leaky poppet? Can you service them or easier just to buy a new set? Cheers :thumb:

Apologies if this has been flagged up before but just spotted 450ml Grolsch Swing Top bottles (full of beer) for sale in Tesco at 3 for £5. Seems like a good deal to me!

    Christmas Homebrew FAIL!

I've spent three months brewing and conditioning two fantastic beers for the big family gathering on Christmas day. A Stone IPA clone and my Bad Santa Christmas beer (7.8% and 6.5% respectively) As an early pressie, I received a gas management board which I set up ion the shed with my corny...

    HELP Corny Despencing Foam

I assume the keg is still in the fridge at 10C? If you took it out and placed somewhere warmer, the CO2 will be trying to escape. I think there are two things to fix - I think you have probably over carbed a little bit. I often do this by accident and it is easy to fix. Disconnect the gas line...

    'Lager' Malt for SNPA Attempt

I've used the Crisps Lager malt and the Dingemans Pale Ale Malt to make SNPA type beers with great success. You'll want to add a little caramel / crystal malt into the mix too. This is where the malt character and colour come from. Both the Crisps and the Dingemans will give a good base for...

Suggest a suitbale filter set up please!

I've never needed to filter my beer but after a recent experiment with some aged whisky barrel oak chips I've got oak bits about the size of a grain of sand floating around in the secondary. I did tie the chips up in a muslin bag but these particles managed to escape. Any suggestions on the...
