    Fermentation Brew Fridge

No probs, is tomorrow evening ok? I've got the council coming for a freezer on weds and they'll take the fridge for the same price so need it gone before then.

    Two kegs for sale

Both have S30 caps, one has a tyre valve so you can monitor the pressure. Both have sturdy taps and hold pressure well. £10 each, collect from near Nottingham

    1st timers 1st mistake

You've probably put the hops in a tad early at 5 days but not a disaster. Putting them in too early will make it less hoppy as fermentation will drive off the flavours. If it's too hoppy after you've bottled it leave it to condition longer and the hop flavour will mellow out. This was my...

    Keg Pressure Problem

The keg is half full. I've done a half keg before with no problems.

    Keg Pressure Problem

I did a New World Saison over the Summer when the temps were hot, I kegged half and bottled half. The bottled half turned out lovely but the keg didn't carb up. I've fitted a tyre valve so I can test pressure and it was a big fat zero, and what beer dribbled out was flat. I narrowed the...

    priming cider

Yes, just normal sugar, or brewing sugar. Sweeteners like Splenda would be non fermentable and only add sweetness not co2

    priming cider

I put 1tsp in cider but only half in beer. Maybe if you want it super grassy use 1.5 tsp

Can I add/How do I add oak chips to beer

That kit very much tastes of rum. Not sure how much of that is attributable to the chips but they did smell very rummy.

    Kit like sour beer

Interesting. I could culture some yeast from a bottle of sour beer and use that. If I used a glass demi john and bottles, and used a disposable syphon it wouldn't infect my regular equipment. Don't they condition the beer for ages though?

    Kit like sour beer

I'm getting a real taste for sour beers at the moment, is there a kit that replicates this taste or do I have to do an all grain sour mash to get those results?

    Strongbow cider

Squeezing enough apples is going to take ages and would require an expensive press, if you don't want to still be doing it this time next year! Apple juice is the way to go. I think strongbow tastes a bit chemically, and shop cider in general tastes too sweet. But if that's the taste you're...

New festival U.S. team beer help

It can be normal - people's mileage varies with fermentation times. I normally leave brews for 2 weeks but sounds like you did everything right and it's 100% possible that your brew was ready to keg in that timescale, especially as warmer weather helps a quicker ferment. I recently did the New...

    festival new zealand pilsner

I'm drinking mine at the moment. It's a really nice hoppy summer pale ale, but from the blurb and packaging I was expecting something unusual. Don't let that observation put you off, it's similar to Golden Stag which I really like, it just not as different as I was expecting.

    American oaked rum

You don't really need to filter as the chips are quite powdery and sink to the bottom in the trub. I found a long condition really helped. Its drinkable after a month but gets better after two

    2nd ever home brew

It won't taste right after only 8 days. If the gravity is stable and you bottle or keg, leave it in the warm for two weeks and cold for another two weeks then have another try.

    A Barrel with two taps

That's odd. I can't think what the second tap could be for!

    2nd ever home brew

That might be about ready for kegging, I did mine at about the same FG. As long as it stays the same over the next couple of days. Its a lovely beer, similar but better than a Wherry

    Wilko's Golden ale

Wilko Golden is a good base to do a bit of tweaking, dry hop with 50g citra and add 500g light spraymalt, makes it into a really nice pint.
