    Double IPA question

Thanks clibit, do you mean just use extract instead of the kit?

    Double IPA question

I'm thinking of making a double IPA based on a Thomas Cooper IPA kit. I want to add more bittering hops so will probably add these to a boil using the kit extract. Can anybody tell me: a) if this will work, b) what quantity/variety of bittering hops, and c) is it more trouble than it's worth...

Punked IPA style beer from a kit

Brewdog have an all grain kit to make Punk, but £40 seems a little steep! Not sure what's included in the kit but even so.....https://www.brewdog.com/item/740/BrewDog/Brooklyn-BrewShop-Punk-IPA-homebrew-kits.html?image=3

Punked IPA style beer from a kit

Try Youngs American IPA, it's not the same but a very hoppy strong IPA.

    Best commercial beer

With you on this. Punk IPA was the beer that got me into the very hoppy IPA style, and popular or not I love the stuff.

    Best commercial beer

Tesco Double IPA by Btewdog. Suspect it might be (fairly sure it is) Hardcore IPA, 9.2%, £1.99 for 330ml, had three last night - not a session beer!

    Coopers Stout

It is ground coffee mixed with cold water, left overnight and then strained and added to secondary or,as I did, straight into the bottle. Search YouTube for espresso stout and that should turn up the one I watched. It has added a definite coffee flavour, rather than coffee "notes", to my stout...

    Coopers Stout

Ended up bottling this with 3/4 tsp of sugar per 500 ml and adding a "coffee toddy" as found on YouTube somewhere. By far my best brew yet after 3 weeks in the bottle.

    Young's American IPA on!

Got my Young's IPA on this morning. Made as per instructions - nearly, brewed short to 20 litres, SG 1066 so looking at a fairly robust brew.

    Re: Wilko's Delicate Pilsner

This has been in the bottle for over a month now, best beer I've done so far, no "homebrew" taste, nicely carbonated, very easy to drink. I dry hopped with 30g of saaz and it seems to have worked ok. Next time it's on offer I'll do this again.

    Coopers Stout

Got my Coopers Stout on just now. Used 1kg dark muscovado sugar and 300g of dark DME. Brewed short to 18 litres. OG was 1059 so going for a strongish brew.

Best Temperature for Coopers Mexican Cerveza

I'm no expert, but I don't think Mexican Cerveza is a lager, it is a light ale.

    Coopers Australian Pale Ale

Got this on today, added 1kg brew enhancer, 500g LDME. and used 20l of bottled spring water (on offer - 2 for £1.80 at Morrisons). I intended to use a different yeast instead of the kit yeast but forgot to go and get it  oh well, next time. SG was 1046.

    Bulldog Cortez gold Mexican Cerveza.

Disappointed with this. Primed bottles with one carbonation drop and ended up with a load of flat beer that is not pleasant. Much darker in colour than I'd expected and a bit sweet for me. Saving it for emergency use only.

    Re: Wilko's Delicate Pilsner

Already done it, but with 750g. OG was 1050 so could be a bit stronger than intended. Oh well I'm sure I will cope.

    Re: Wilko's Delicate Pilsner

Bought two cans of Wilko's Light Pilsner this morning. I'm going for the 2 can approach and will add brewing sugar. Hoping to get it up to around 5 - 5.5%, so how much sugar will I need to add if I'm doing 23l?

Has anyone made a WOW using Lowicz Syrups?

I did a couple of experimental bottles using Brewing caps, mixed 50ml of cherry syrup with apple juice in a 500ml bottle, added yeast and left it 5 days then in the fridge for 3 days - not bad but a bit sweet, maybe leave it to ferment more of the sugar out next time.
