    Free Hops

I'm a big fan of The Who, and I like Fred Perry polo shirts. Does that count me out? Dave

Which Yeast for St Peter's Ruby Red Ale?

St Peter's is a great kit anyway, but I've heard it's even better with Nottingham yeast. Dave

    Who Knows DIPA

Right then. Centennial for bittering. Chinook in the middle. Nelson and Simcoe near the end. Mosaic, Ahtanum and Sorachi Ace at the end. Mosaic, Sorachi, Nelson, Simcoe and Ahtanum currently enjoying an 80deg 30 minute steep. I've really emptied the freezer at this one! Dave

    Who Knows DIPA

There's a 1L starter to go in, so I'll at least have that :-D

    The homebrew company

If you look at the postage label when you order a sack of grain etc. it'll say 10kg on it when you know there's at least a 25kg sack of grain in there. So I reckon they play a bit fast and loose with DPD's weight limits and they get pulled every now and again. Dave

    Who Knows DIPA

Ok, sparge done. Came out with 19L so a 90 minute boil I reckon. Adjusted pre-boil gravity reading was 1.047. Dave

    Who Knows DIPA

Cheers dudes! I'll take the pre-boil gravity and work out the IBUs from that, but that's about it; I won't write anything down. Haha! That's sort of the idea mate. You end up with all sorts of different quantities and hops lying around, so it's unlikely you'll have the same amount again to...

    Who Knows DIPA

Got the HLT on for a small batch double IPA. I've got 3.8kg of Minch malt and 100g of crystal for the mash. I'll do some calculations after I've seen how much wort I've got in the copper. I've got bits of Ahtanum, Simcoe, Centennial, Nelson Sauvin, Sorachi Ace, Mosaic and Chinook to go at. I'm...

    A message to you Rudi...

I'd go as far as to say that this one is a pseudo lager to be honest. Dave

Star San - What's it all about

I'm a Milton man; I've always used it so it's a bit 'if it ain't broke...' It's available pretty much everywhere and it's also no rinse. I still rinse anyway, just as I would with Star San. Dave

    A message to you Rudi...

Update: Nice hop this. Although in my opinion it is in no doubt a lager hop, so I'm glad I fermented it at the lower end of WLP001's temperature range. If you want smooth bitterness with a honey and berry-like taste profile then this is a hop you should consider. Dave

    Mosaic (still honing the recipe...)

Bottled this one today after 7 days with dry hops in there. FG was 1.008 which gives me 5% ABV. Sorted. Dave

    Hop choice - magnum/cascade/goldings

What do you normally drink? What volume are you planning to brew? What OG are you aiming for? Dave

    So which pint was homebrewed

    What a total legend.

    Question,OG not taken

It'll give you some idea at least. More fun not knowing!

APA - Pilot Light Pale (Mosaic/Citra)

Leave it alone and chalk it up as a lesson learnt. Dave
