HB as in home brew. The question was looking for advice on best shipping options (noted on the PET bottles) and carriers and avoiding my friend in Austria having to pay import duty on a gift.

As the title suggests, is it realistic to send a dozen bottles of HB to a friend in Austria or is the shipping/duty prohibitive?

Well I don't get a filter bed any more because of using the (Aldi, Lidl or Sainsburys) vegetable bags. Clean up of the kettle is a breeze though!

I think this is what I'm going to risk. They are all on mesh 'blankets' and in the dark so it will be a week-long drying process and I'll vac/freeze them as soon as I get home. Ironically my best ever crop, 1.4kg of Cascade, 1kg of Challenger and 800grams of Northern Brewer.

Hi Hop pickers. Just harvesting my hops and have cut the bines down. However, I now have to go away for a week! Should I: A) Freeze the 'wet' hop cones in batches three times heavier than I'd usually use them? Or B) Leave the picked hop cones to dry in the garage for a week naturally and...

I had to go through Peterborough last week so ordered crushed MO from Brewers Select. £41.30 for two sacks. Very happy with that and should last me a while sealed in blue drums.

The Brewers Select tip was a great shout. You have to register with them as a 'company' but as long as you're after a full 25kg sack, they are happy to supply home brewers.

Thanks AJA I'll do that, I used to buy from Brewers Select when I did 18 months of weekend brewing on a small commercial scale (they've hung up their mash paddles now) but I didn't know they'd supply a home brewer.

Thanks both, I'd forgotten about Hook Head. And the Homebrew Co shipping isn't too steep. I've gone with The Home Brew Shop though, free shipping over £66 which just about tipped it in their favour.
