    Greg Hughes Dry Stout Advice.

Had some really good results with this ratio in fact that is what I do all my beers at now! I was just a bit apprehensive about giving a stout the same level of carbonation as I would an IPA . Suppose what I should have done is bought a can of Guinness to have a look at carbonation levels as...

    Greg Hughes Dry Stout Advice.

Got a batch ready for bottling but not sure how much sugar to prime with! Guessing the same as an ale, 4g per litre? Anyone have any preferences? First stout for me so advice would be greatly received.

Hands up, who needs a fermentation fridge!!!!

I hope so cornyandy! Did an IPA at the weekend that's going like the clappers! It's in the cupboard under the sink crammed with ice blocks that I am changing morning afternoon and night. Forgot to bid on a fridge/freezer at the weekend that went very local for £12.50.....

    10 Litre Sunday SMaSH

Not great this one to be honest! I ended up having to put it in a pressure barrel and I can't get it cold enough for my taste and carbonation has been ****! I will do this again but will add a good 60 minute bittering addition, and bottle it.

    Washing and reusing yeast

That makes for interesting reading ,Thanks Clibit! I have just measured what I have in the bottles from my harvest and it seems more or less around the 20 -25ml mark . Now what I have in each bottle only represents a small percentage of what was in the bottom of the FV after I had decanted the...

    Washing and reusing yeast

Got it ! What I couldn't figure out is how to calculate how much was in the bottles. Add 25ml of water to the bottom of a bottle and match it! Cheers guys your knowledge is always welcome!

    Washing and reusing yeast

Thankyou for your reply MyQul your information is very helpful! As an example then for a 10 litre batch at a OG of 1.050 the calculator comes out at 25ml of yeast needed. So if I decanted the clear liquid off of one of the bottles I have and then gave the bottle a thorough shake to suspend the...

    Washing and reusing yeast

Cheers MyQul I am interested in this subject as it would be nice to build up a few different strains of yeast and from a money saving point of view. How do I determine how much of a washed and stored yeast to pitch in a 10 litre batch?

My stocks took a hit last night Ian:drink: More brewing needed! I am going to carry on brewing 10 litre batches until I have got a few recipes that I want to brew in larger volumes and to be honest when I have got a keg system in place. Filling bottles is becoming a chore although emptying them...
