    Dodgy Electrics

I have read the reply with interest. I am a qualified electrician. Golden rules of high load kit is one element per lead and make sure it’s a good quality one. Don’t use it rolled up. If you can get some to make one for you with good quality kit all the better. There are lots of crappy 13a...

    Re-using commercial beer bottles

I only reuse old beer bottles and never had a problem. One question I have is I have a lot of clear bottles are these any good for cider as I read some where I should not use them for ale due to the light making the beer oxidise.

One question that has been bugging me for a while if you leave a fridge not used with the door closed they smell bad. How do you stop this happening if the inside is relatively warm?

What's your least favourite thing about brewing?

I hate bottling, I don't mind the filling but the cleaning and rinsing drives me insane. Could be my ocd does not help.

    Brew belt

I use the stc1000 as well to control my brew belt it just saves the hassle of temperature monitoring for the sake of £20 max if you can put the bits together yourself.

I like to leave my headcracker 3 to 4 months before drinking it. It does get a lot nicer with age.

looking at how to make beers, lagers and red wine stronger

Have you looked at the higher alcohol kits, I brew the Woodfords Headcracker and find it is a tasty pint. Might be worth looking at the kit reviews on this site to find something to your taste.

Where are all the kit brewers?

I confess I only do kits, to be fair they taste good to me and I get fed up on bottling day.

My top little gadgets, and why

You would not believe the trouble I would be in if there was a leak out of a FV. My mate had a leak on his tap, not good.

    First Brew

I think I would make a wooden box and put a small tubular heater in the bottom with a cheapy room thermostat in the top.

    First Brew

I would recommend one of these for bottling saves some of the mess, also if you are lucky enough to have a dishwasher fill the bottles over the open door and spillage is then contained and does not hit the floor. https://www.hopandgrape.co.uk/bottling-stick-wand.html
