    Hop plants/rhizomes - growing report

I find the easiest way to dry is to lay all the cones on a sheet of tarpaulin and set a fan on them. I managed to dry perfectly in my conservatory this way last year and will be doing the same this year. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

    Ace electric boilers?

Ive been through about 15 brews on this ACE boiler now and it's a fantastic bit of kit that's produced some quality beers. The only issue I've had is blockages when transferring to the fermenting vessel, however I've not had any problems since I've been doing as follows: Primarily use leaf...

    Hop Growing in the garden

I've portioned out some smaller sizes. 3 @ 100, 3 @ 60 and one @ 20. Looking forward to getting the first brew on. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

    Hop Growing in the garden

So after a couple of days I'm satisfied all my hops are dried out and there is not a drop of moisture left. In total I am just shy of 500g. No idea if this yield is any good for WGV? All that is left now is to vacuum pack in 100g portions. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

    Hop Growing in the garden

My drying method seems to be working very well too (dehumidifier running full whack and a fan over the trays). The dehumidifier has been emptied twice and they are already feeling crispy, just need to keep rotating them.

    Hop Growing in the garden

I have to admit it smells spectacular! :thumb: I didn't weigh them but will do once they are fully dry. I had no idea how many hops were on that single plant, I initially went out with a cake tin realising after five minutes I'd need a bigger pot!

What type of water do you use?? Bottled spring water or just normal tap water??

Totally with you there. Rock hard down here in sussex, tried bottled and couldn't tell the difference. Campden tablets in the HLT help. Sent from my Nexus 7 using Tapatalk

    Premium Pilsner Fermentation Schedule

Hi All, Currently have the HBC Premium Pilsner in my fermentation fridge but being my first Pils I'm not sure on the fermentation schedule. http://www.thehomebrewcompany.co.uk/hbc-premium-pilsner-mashkit-23lt-p-1604.html It's fermenting nicely @11.5 degrees and has been for two weeks...

    Anyone used resealable prosecco bottles

These look ideal, suspect they will take normal "Grolsch" sized rubber seals too.

    Buying hop plants

I used these on ebay for my first hop plant: http://www.ebay.co.uk/usr/meadow-plant?_trksid=p2047675.l2559 Planted towards the end of 2014, pretty much nothing more than 3 ft in 2015 and this is where I am this summer: I believe first year is mostly root growth, second year i trained the...

    Hop Growing in the garden

I've got a conservatory that gets very hot and dry so they are going to go on the window sill. Failing that I'll run the dehumidifier too! Sent from my Nexus 7 using Tapatalk

So these are pretty much ready to harvest now. Anyone got any good ways of drying out without a dehydrator? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

    Hop Growing in the garden

Hi Chuffer, this went in the ground Nov 2014. Last years barely got 3ft high... Apparently the first year is mainly for root growth. I've got poor thick clay soil, haven't fed or really watered. I'm amazed it's done so well! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
