I do it in the kitchen, but a few points to bear in mind...
1/ Beer wort is very sticky so needs a good clean up afterwards
2/ Boiling wort is hot as well as sticky. Watch it like a hawk
3/ Moving boiling wort to sink for cold break is heavy and hot.
All in all a recipe for disaster, but...
Just dry hopped with 2 red chillies (for an 11 litre batch). Just scored each of them, put them in boiling water for a minute or so and then added to fv. So many variables here, so best to make regular tests and whip them out if they get a bit much. The chilli taste does mellow with age. Bg
I have a vic secret on the go for a week now in the fv. Using a strong mangojack yeast.
How would this hot weather affect fermentation? Will it accelerate it or should I just leave it for the usual two weeks?
Many thanks

Not that I'm an expert or nuffin, but just to say that I was pleased when I added one red chill for the second week in the fv. This was for 11 litres. I simply scored the chilli a few times and put it into boiling water for a few seconds before adding it to the brew. I'd already hopped it well...
It's only when you start brewing that you realise how much sugar is in beer. I'd just cut down on sugar intake elsewhere and allow yourself one or two. BG
It's bad enough ordering beer from supermarket for what you think is good price, only to realise that they're 330 bottles.I've only just got used to 500ml. You can tell I've had a good day at work

I'm lucky in that I'm in the countryside and have watership down on my
doorstep, so don't come into contact with many cars. Although dogs/squirrels seem to have a magnetic attraction to my front...
I'm an anathema to those who measure everything precisely (good band by the way).
Next 10l batch probably - 1kg med spray malt, 1.5kg maris Otter and 250g Choc and any yeast I can find and the rest of the Challenger hops in the freezer.
This weekend I'll be bottling my last 10l batch (Broken...

I was using an old FV, bought from Boots in Watford in about 1980, until 2 months ago. However this has been recently retired, because of the build up of scratches. As long as the surface is clean and relatively scrach free then I'd keep using it.

From the age of about 10, I was helping Dad clean out the pipes at the local Legion - mostly Benskins (not great). You have to test(taste) it to make sure all of the solution's come through

Thanks to Steve and Will for a wonderful event yesterday.
I know I had to bale early, but I hope the brew turned out OK.
Good weather and a good turn-out.
Thanks again

I should be there. Cycle again I think - Hopefully it won't be so stormy and I won't get lost this time.
Unfortunately I don't have any beer to bring. So hope I don't get instantly chucked out for it.
Would highly recommend this to anyone - good fun last time!
