    Stainless steel s30 valve

First off, an apology for not brewing or coming here for a long time. One thing that used to bother me in my kit was the brass s30 valves in my pressure barrels. They turned green and looked unhealthy. I have just found and purchased a stainless steel one. Does anyone else use these and are...

    Vodka question

Hello all. It's been a while but my dad gave me a big bag of plums today so it's wine time. I had a quick look in the new non brewed beverages section and it made me think of a question that's been bothering me for some time. I like a neat vodka now and again, my favourite being Stolichnaya from...

    Someone is eating my hops!

Hello all. This is more of a gardening question than beer making, but it is related. My hop plant is making the most of the rain and growing well. Only trouble is, something is taking a nibble at the leaves. Last year it affected the whole plant. I know very little about green fingered stuff, so...

    Bottom tap to top tap?

If i fitted a lastock tube and float to a bottom tap keg, would i fool it into thinking it was a top tap keg? Or is that, like most of my ideas, nonsense ? ;)

    Hop question

I picked some hops yesterday from a friends garden. We have no idea what variety they are but they smell lovely. The question is: Can i put them straight in the freezer or is there some great importance that i need to dry them first? Thanks Neil

    FG's

Ive just read a post where a Brewer (sorry, can't remember posters name) got a fg of 1002. I've never had one below 1010. I normally get an OG of say 1048 to 1052 maybe a tad higher sometimes. Can i ferment below 1010 from that high? If yes, How?

You seem to like your films

So, how about trying to guess a film from a famous song that comes from it. For example, Stayin alive by the Bee Gee's from Saturday night fever. Or, Mrs Robinson by Simon & Garfunkel from The Graduate. Name the film please from "Rain drops keep falling on my head"

    Wort should be Wurt!

Apparently "wort" should be said "wurt". I just can't get to grips with this. Does anybody else have this trouble or will i just embarrass myself in conversation with other brewers. :wha:

Yes or you must be joking?

I have used the GW beer engine to help me with this. It's a simple recipe for two reasons. 1. To try and educate myself on basic flavours and 2. A cheap grain bill (hops i already have) to keep costs down. 23l Pale Malt 5200g Goldings 50g @ 90 Goldings 20g @ 30 Goldings 15g @ 15 43 EBU OG...
