No wonder we brew our own

I think I have had a bad pint in spoons. i took it back and they gave me something else. same as most pubs. I did argue with a bar man once because in one pub about the p*ss he was trying to serve me as strongbow. i won that.

I used 20l water. left it soak in there for 20 mins at that temp, then flushed it through a few times. but there was quite a bit left over after filling me boiler. I left it overnight sealed up with the bubble filter on it before pitching the yeast later. dunk sparge with less water will be...

My problem is I'm a tight ****! That one pub has always been over priced. It was my choice to go there, and I picked a decent ale.

my old lunchtime local used to sell similar beer for less than 3.30 the pub we went to has the luxury of a beer garden and charges a lot more for the beer. there is also a bunker pub close by that has similar prices. but work colleagues like the beer garden on sunny days.

spoons charge less as they have lower overheads - they don't have any music in them therefore don't need an entertainment licence. when was the last time you were in spoons where music was playing? Not many of them show sports etc I paid £4.20 for a nice pint last week which...

ha ha all lessons learned. "memorable and distinct result you will never be able to replicate" - not sure if that is good or bad. :-) I need to look into sparging a bit more. Looks like the 20l specified by greg was overkill.

I panicked and I chucked in what I could find in the house. It's a pale ale yeast. S05? If the other yeast comes tomorrow, can I chuck that in too? Or just leave it as it is?

    eco boiler brewing questions

the yeast was out of date and it had written on it "keep at 4 degrees" I didn't see that and its been in the shed for quite a few months, where temps are probably in the upper 20s so it sounds like its probably best to bin it?

    eco boiler brewing questions

Hello, it's been a while, but I'm back with some questions! so firstly, i took my peco boiler for a brew yesterday, and this didn't go according to plan... firstly, I was following the saisson recipe from greg's book I noticed at the start that there is an empty space between the hop...

Have a go at simple AG

Hmm, could be a few things. There is some of my tap water in there, which may cause it. But I'm careful with most of the other bits. I'll buy more bottled water from now on. Its not a horrible taste, but it's there. Update: the AG beer didn't have that taste at all

It was a little fizzy, but more than acceptable. I carbed by dissolving the sugar in a pan, then syphon the booze I to that. I looked up on line how much sugar 10l needed and used that much, but now I think about it, I got 8 and a bit litres out, with the gunk at the bottom excluded, I...

Have a go at simple AG

Well, it's been in the shed for 8 or more weeks and I've tried a bottle. Firstly, she is a lively beast, opening the bottle resulted in a lot of bubble over spill. Is this an over carb issue? Beer itself, we'll it's a bit cloudy. I'm guessing the temp hasn't been that cold in my shed to...
