    New crossmyloof 'Haze' yeast.

@matt76 It was slow. I thought it was slower than US-05. I found that slowly rising the temp and stirring the yeast back up into suspension gave it a boost. It finished at 1.011. Its a nice yeast just a bit slow. I'd use it again, but will probably make a starter next time

    New crossmyloof 'Haze' yeast.

Its not doing too bad now, just really slow. I found that venting the pressure on the fermzilla rapidly caused the yeast to stir up in suspension, without exposing it to oxygen. It's now down to 1.014. So 76% att and CML state it at 75%

    New crossmyloof 'Haze' yeast.

Ok cheers. Will give it a stir later when I remove the first dry hop. See if it helps it out a bit

    New crossmyloof 'Haze' yeast.

I am using the Haze yeast for the first time and it seems really slow compared with US-05. Is it usually a slow one? Beer is temp controlled and under 15psi of pressure

Are you sure this is a west coast ipa?

How was the beer in there? I went in a few times when it had just opened, and the beer had a strange 'fairy liquid' taste. Gave it a few attempts, but it put me off in the end and not been back since

    ****Fermentasaurus Mega Giveaway****

I would love a Fermentasaurus Snub Nose, would be good to compare it to the fermzilla.

Summary of first 6 months (long ramble ahead)

As Sadfield has said none specifically in Stockport. I think there was one at the Chiverton Tap, in Cheadle Hulme. Not sure if it still happens. I'm from Stockport and go to the Manchester Meets. They are mainly at Cafe Beermoth, but we do sometimes have them at Beer Nouveau. Next one is this...

    Kegerator from chest freezer

I'm not sure its an old Indesit one. I can fit 3 kegs in a row no problem. Then it has a step inside running along the full length of it. Because the wooden collar has raised the height I can fit 2 kegs on there, either side of my gas distribution manifold. I will see if I can upload a pic if I...

    Kegerator from chest freezer

I bought a second hand chest freezer from gumtree, cost me £40. I rubbed it down with some fine sand paper and gave it 2 coats of blackboard paint. Removed the lib and fitted a collar like in the video. I lined the collar with that silver bubble wrap. I use a STC-1000 to control the temp. It...

    More Advanced Water Treatment

@strange-steve Again I can't thank you enough. I guess lots of repeat batches with different mineralisation levels are needed to find my preference

    More Advanced Water Treatment

@strange-steve Thanks for the advise, much appricated. On the other hand the other day I did a 37 litre total volume BIAB. With my calcium at 13 ppm I used 0.3g/l of gypsum (11g) to bring it up to ~85-90ppm. Would this be OK and not too much mineralisation?

    More Advanced Water Treatment

Hi all and @strange-steve I am right in my thinking here ( hope it makes sense) My water as is out of the tap is : CALCIUM = 14ppm SULPHATE = 18ppm CHLORIDE = 8.5ppm RATIO= 2.1 (sulphate/choride) I am brewing a NEIPA so I want more chloride rich water. I am doing a total volume BIAB with 37...

Summary of first 6 months (long ramble ahead)

I got an old chest freezer and converted it into a kegerator. Took the lid off made a wooden collar, fitted lid back on. I then use a STC to control the temp. It works well. Once I get my electric build done, I would be more than happy to help if you wanted to go that way.

Summary of first 6 months (long ramble ahead)

Cool sounds good. I am over near Alex park. I have stopped bottling as I use cornys now, but will be able to sort something. I am using BIAB in a 70l pot on gas at the moment. I am planning on building a electric setup with PID controlers etc. Just slowly buying all the bits. I need to get...

Summary of first 6 months (long ramble ahead)

I'm in Edgeley too. I just put a little bit of gypsum in at the moment. I am trying to get some core recipes together and working on getting my efficiency etc good, before I dive into water too much:lol:

    Possible Infected batch

I should of taken pictures. Its all dropped down now. It kind of looked like porridge. I clean everything with PBW and rinse. All buckets etc get the same treatment, plus star san after rinsing. This will be my first ever infection / failure though.
