    Ace electric boilers?

What order did you fit these? Internal pipe fitting - small washer - ACE boiler wall - O ring - ball valve? Any chance of a pic for the hard of thought? Cheers! :confused1:

    Ace electric boilers?

I had a similarly expensive quote from the ACE suppliers and decided to use it as an excuse to buy another of the (earlier) £99 ACEs as an HLT. Not a bad price for a replacement false bottom and HLT. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

    Kettle upgrade advice for induction

I've boiled 45L in it using anti foam to save me from watching it all the time. Once chilled I wouldn't want to be lifting it so I pump it out to the fermenter a few metres away.

Keep trying with the PID. Mine holds to within +/- .2 degrees. A huge improvement over the Inkbird I was using before. Once you get it tuned you can just forget it.

    Ace electric boilers?

Blimey! I thought I was Scott of the Antarctic but you've already been there [emoji1] 9kg....that's enough for 40L of something reasonable. Good to know.

    Ace electric boilers?

Funny how tricky some of these single-point faults can be to track down. I've had my pump apart to clean it a couple of times, but it was the trapped air in the modified outlet valve that stuffed up my first dozen attempts at recirculation. My last 6 have been fine including a DIPA and...

    Ace electric boilers?

I agree with @Bigcol. Sounds like an error. I use that Inkbird without issue on my 1600w ACE as an HLT.

    Ace electric boilers?

I've gone for the same set up as @Bigcol save that my temperature probe is tee'd into the outlet of the ACE. I've found that I can connect up all the tubes and open the valves fully (in no particular order) for the pump to prime. I do however have to gently tip the ACE forward in order to...

    Ace electric boilers?

+1 - I've done 7kg for a Sixpoint Resin Clone and it was fine. I'd estimate 8.5-9kg would be the limit.

    free fridge..

I use a 40w one of both my kegerator (2m high with 6 cronies) and fermentation fridge (1.6m high). It's more than capable of heating them in a garage at 10 degrees C.

    carbonator cap

Mine both fit 3/8 line - great for party bottles, cleaning beer line, and the occasional Heath Robinson connection!

    Ace electric boilers?

Hi BC I've been there - a PITA! My false bottom is still buckled around the bolts but it now serves to remind me each time to start the pump off really slowly. I normally start with slow trickle for 5 mins and work up to 4l per min after about 20 mins. It's probably over cautious but works...

    What did you brew today?

Kegged my winter Wherry clone last week (a bit stronger than recipe due to higher efficiency) with a cheeky keg hop to perk things up. That left the FV free so yesterday I brewed a Sixpoint Resin clone. 7kg of grain plus 750g dextrose. By far the biggest mash I've done in the ACE so far...

    Ace electric boilers?

Hi BeerCat Just a thought...Have you selected the right sensor option in the PID options?....it's not always set to the K type.

    Ace electric boilers?

That's a pain....I've been there too! I got my type 2 pump from Angel Homebrew - powerful but still relatively cheap compared to some of the chunkier options. I've just checked though and they are out of stock :( I've heard good things about this pump...

    Ace electric boilers?

Brew day today - a Wherry-ish clone with loads of extra hops. I thought I would try getting rid of any air in the outlet by tipping the boiler forward before mashing in. Loads of bubbles came out, and I had the smoothest recirculation I've had to date. No "vacuum" - I think this was just an...

    Ace electric boilers?

Hmmm...I'd not thought of trying the sensor in the elbow rather than letting the wort turn the corner. Might have to try that. I have also ordered a 4-way stainless steel cross to replace the tee piece. My plan was to mount the probe in one hole, wort in, wort out, and in the 4th hole...
