    Cwtch by Tiny Rebel Brewery

Just got my kit made up, smells very nice. Had a cheeky taste from the trial jar as well, looking forward to this one. Seems a bit strange doing a can kit as last 2 brews have been extract, be interesting to see how this stacks up. Have been on the look out in supermarkets for the bottles but...

    Which Beer Next

Really enjoyed Smugglers special ale, especially good after 6 months or so if you can leave it alone. Wherry was my first kit and another nice easy to drink ale. I have just got myself the Cwtch red ale kit to try out after reading all the positive reviews. http://www.tinyrebel.co.uk/beers/cwtch/

    Forum Raffle

I like the sound of this, and if it was say £2 we have more chance of winning than on the lotto  I think gift vouchers or store credit would be the best idea as you can pick what you want. You would probably get more people having a go as well than if it was for a set prize. An...

    2nd extract kit

Have a brewuk summer ale kit on the go. Started off with another cheeky tester pint of my last kit (white house honey ale). Been conditioning for a month now and its slowly getting better, I think this one could take a while before its really good. So far so good with the summer ale kit, tried...

A few questions before i embark on this homebrew adventure...

I use Tesco everyday value bottled water, about 17p ish for 2L. Our water is very hard here so the Tesco stuff is alot better ( pretty sure its just filtered tap water but its cheap and better than out the tap).

    Beer recommendation

Another nod for Woodfordes Wherry (my first kit). I also really like Muntons Smugglers Ale, gets alot of good reviews as well. Both really good kits, I found the Smugglers especially just gets better and better the longer you leave it. One of my mates has done quite a few kits and those two are...

What's your least favourite thing about brewing?

After my first time bottling with Grolsch bottles yesterday, bottling. Removing the tops and washers, using the cleaner/steraliser, rinsing, Starsaning, refitting tops and washers and then finally filling the bottles. Took for ever

    First extract kit

Finally bottled, had a cheeky sample and tasted good. Took ALOT longer to clean, steralise and bottle with my Grolch bottles than I was expecting. Used to kegging. Baby bottle cleaning brush I bought was next to usless so had to Blue Peter a bit of washing up sponge on to the end of my plastic...

    Dextrose.

I was lucky as my mate had done a few kits before I started, still quite new to it myself though. Have brewed two tin kits (Wherry and Smugglers, both really nice) and almost about to bottle my first extract kit (White house honey ale). Best advice is to ask plenty of questions (there are no...

    First extract kit

Quick update, its been 16 days in the FV and just checked the FG to see if its done. FG was 1010 (should be 1015) with OG 1062 (should be 1073) but topped up to 21L instead of 19L as per the instructions. So should be about 6.8% :drunk: Had a lovely smell when I opened the lid and really clear...

    Idiot on Ebay

Just imagine how quickly you could get a boil going with the afterburners on though

How long before it should start to ferment?

Had the same with my FV with my previous brew. Though it had gone wrong at first as bubbler wasn't doing anything. Turned out that the lid is not an air tight seal. I "fix" this by wraping some wideish sellotape around the outside of the bucket/lid (also sealing the notch to remove the lid). I...

    Grolsch bottles in the oven?

Still not sure if I will go the oven route or just clean and sterallise before use. But sounds like removing the washers for a good clean is a good idea. Has anyone tried to "clean with the power of steam" ? I have a vax steam cleaner that detatches into a handheld with a few different...

    Grolsch bottles in the oven?

Just wondering if its ok to stick the bottles with the swing tops attached in the oven to sterillise them? Or do you remove the swing tops? Will remove the rubber seals first. Any tips on cleaning (just bought 50 odd bottles off ebay), I normally just wash all my gear with washing up liquid...

    Capper or bottles?

Quick update as I realised I don't actually have as many empty bottles in the garage as I thought I did  . But my dad just won an auction on ebay for 50 Grolsch 440ml swing tops for £15, local collection only. So as long as nothing goes pear shaped the capper is on hold for a while.

    Capper or bottles?

Thanks, capper it is then. Anyone tried one of these? Looks to be metal instead of plastic so might be better quality. http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Professional-Table-Crown-Bottle-Capper-100-Bottle-Caps-Home-Brew-Fast-P-P-UK-/252316601703?hash=item3abf3dcd67:g:TU8AAOSwu1VW4pue Cheaper option -...
