    Lets start another contentious Thread

Yep- FORUMITES - the subject - PREMIUM BONDS Naturally, members here who hate the TORYS would not lend this government a penny. I get that. But when you see the returns they are not that bad, considering what a BS gives you. Whats your thoughts? Mr Clint has prompted me to post this! By the...

    When you have a pint

So, when you have a pint, do you want to hear from some home brew nerd waffling on about cell counts and hop profiles. It could be worse....football or as we call it - Poofball -. And then, in the Snug corner is old Fred, puffing on his pipe, after a hard day ploughing his fields. You can...

    Ghost ship clone

....Ghost Ship is a reasonable beer.... I just thought I would share my experience of making a clone. There are loads of recipes out there, on the inter-web. For me, and this is only my experience, which I've replicated twice, so I can demonstrate some scientific credibility, and that is...

    The friday night ramble 3

So Fridays here again, so its more ramblings and musings from the village Idiot....Talking of VILLAGE I think we should utilise the VILLAGE GREEN more and make it a real centre we can be proud of, so should have a pair of stocks where we can secure the local hoodlums for everyone to see...

    Gotta New Job

Having retired about a year ago the wife decided I need to get out more and drink less beer. I had a brief dalliance with an upmarket supermarket, which I really hated. Anyway to cut a long story short Im working for a car dealership, picking up used low milage cars. The owner organises...

    The friday night ramble

Yeh, I know its saturday, but was up in the 'big smoke' yesterday, but hey ho. Anyway, Ive had a week to think and make observations about the world around us, and it struck me that every time I opened a news paper there was a picture of some dippy bird with huge SILICONE BREASTS. They are...

    I despair

I was listening to the radio late last night and some guy visited the computing department of a technical college in North London. He asked the pupils why the college and area was famous. NOT ONE KNEW. Well apparently it was where TIM BERNERS-LEE studied...the inventor of the inter webb. None of...

    old hydrometer

Just chucked out very old hydrometer from the 60's, which I found in my mothers house. It had lead shot in it and two scales and a wee removable brass weight in the tail. I guess the idea was that it could be used across a huge range of gravities. Anyway.....in the bin.

    The friday night ramble

I seem to have hit a (non brewing related) chord with some of you on here, so am looking at making this a regular Friday Night feature, unless the moderators think otherwise. I was thinking, that if we haven't heard from a member for a while, and none of us are getting any younger, perhaps...

    The 'i' word

Right, thats it. Anyone using the "I" word ...INFEC****. PAYS A FORFEIT TO CHILDREN IN NEED. Lets see if we can go for a whole week. Go for it.

    Goon mad

Someone on here used the words "Critical Mass" regards to brewing and that struck a chord with me, since I never seem to have enough ale to sup. So this week Ive brewed:- CHTCH - 20 L US STEAM BEER - 23 L EKG SMASH - 10 L CHINOOK SMASH - 10 L GHOST SHIP CLONE - 5L Ran out of fermenting...

    Hardtalk

Recently on the 'World Service" there was a programme (HARDTALK) about BEN FERENCZ, an American who was the last prosecutor at the Nuremberg Trials. Absolutely fascinating stuff which has a rather surprising ending, which I won't spoil for those interested.
