    IT help

Try removing the power cable from the computer and press and hold the power button for 30+ secs to try and drain residual power from the system. See if it boots up after that. If the above doesn't work you may have a hardware issue. If there is an error during POST then you would normally get...

    What is Grainfather for?

I love my grainfather, mine has probably already paid for itself in beer savings. For me it came down to space, i can pull this out the corner on a saturday or sunday and crack-on with a brew. Easy clean-up and i slide her back into her corner until the next time. At the end of the day we all...

Make an offer - Dark Farm Mini Keg Systems

Gareth I would be interested in 2 x 10l kegs that i can connect to my current co2 bottle and regulator. Would also need the faucet with flow control and anything else i am missing for this setup. Cheers, Greg

    What did you brew today?

Tragically this was my first brew on the GF this year, must get back into the swing of things. Brewed a Greg Hughes Amarillo single hop and is now tucked away for 2 weeks. Just shy of 200g of Amarillo which i haven't used before so should be interesting! Plan to do an El Dorado smash once...

    nelson smash

I have to confess that that has turned into a bit of a franken brew now!!! So i checked the gravity on Saturday after 7 days fermenting and it was down at 1.010 and airlock activity had stopped, has cleared up really well. I used the cross my loof us pale ale yeast for the first time and...

    nelson smash

So i finally got around to putting this on today after a lean spell on the brewing front. Aiming for a lower ABV brew this time i went for 4KG MO and 100g of Nelson. I went with: 22g at 60min 12G at 15 12G at 5 54g at 0 Was a slightly modified Greg Hughes single hop recipe...

Not put this on yet as i had been busy and the subsequent hot weather has put me off as i have no temperature control. Interesting comments on the NS BeerCat. Im thinking i might leave the NS and do an all citra or amarillo smash first. Get some under my belt and then have a crack at the NS...

Looking to move on from all grain kits and start whacking my own stuff together for the grain father. I want to try and get a lowish abv brew on the go and figured id start with something fairly simple. Looking at: 23ltr Brew 3.8kg Maris Otter 10g Magnum at 60 mins 5g Nelson...

    Home brew twang

Going back to when i did kits i would say i noticed less of a "twang" when i did all malt kits, taste is hard to describe but was always there and much more profound when using table/brewing sugar.

    Home brew twang

I wouldn't say its the plastic fermenters either as i was a kit brewer for many years and i always had the twang to some degree. When i went over to all grain using the same basic kit the twang went all together.

    Batch prime

Iv'e always batched primed with table sugar. Tried DME a few times but couldn't detect any differences so went back to table sugar.

    grainfather - efficiency

Stuck another kit on this morning using the above math. I reduced my grain bill from 6kg to 5kg. Expected OG was 1.060 and i hit exactly that with the reduced gran bill :) Smells absolutely wonderful as well, was a hoppy american pale ale kit from geterbrewed. Cant wait to get drinking it!
