Co2 bulbs won’t pressurise my keg?

The gas comes doesn’t make it into the keg at all, just gets pierced and all escapes, in the past I’ve been able to hear it going in.

Co2 bulbs won’t pressurise my keg?

The gas doesn’t make it into the keg at all, just gets pierced and all escapes, in the past I’ve been able to hear it going in. I am using the co2 capsules from wilko and they are a different brand than I usually use, could be a slightly different shape?

Co2 bulbs won’t pressurise my keg?

Hi all, I need to add some pressure to my keg because it’s near glugging, I’m using the 8g capsules, now when I screw the black plastic holder down it pierces the capsule but none goes into the keg, I just end up with really cold fingers! What am I doing wrong? I’ve tried 4 capsules so far and...

Ale still cloudy after 3 months in bottle?

It's amazing given another few weeks and this beer has transformed from cloudy and average to slightly hazy and moreish, I think this long aging maybe yeast related as the sediment is disturbed just by picking up the bottle and taking it inside to open! Overall not bad for a £10 kit but will...

Noob - first brew questions, racking, dry-hopping, etc

Batch priming in your fv will kick up sediment, that's why I've got 2 one with tap for bottling and one without for fermenting. I syphon from fv to my tapped barrel then batch prime and then bottle. Maybe use coopers carbonation drops this time, it saves using a spoon and funnel for priming...

Try not to overthink anything! You've probably heared it many times, but Patience is key!

Noob - first brew questions, racking, dry-hopping, etc

I would leave the brew in primary for 12-14 days or until the gravity is near what it should be and then dry hop for 4-5 days, syphon into bottles using a muslin bag over the end to stop any debris getting into your bottles, store in the warm for a week or 2 the condition in cold for a further...

Noob - first brew questions, racking, dry-hopping, etc

Welcome to the forum Willy, In answer to your questions: First off if you are using a kit you can keep an eye on the temp and adjust so that you end up at 20oC I generally add 1.5-2l of boiling water to my fv and then add the malt extract from the kit and dissolve, then top up with cold water...

One for the older members, and young ones can laugh.

Well that's 6 for me! Didn't realise I was getting on a bit You did miss one: 15. Getting a clip round the ear (doesn't sound too bad but it chuffing hurts!) I always remember getting a whack from my mums wine spoon aswell, but to be honest I was a little s#it Wouldn't dare try that with my...

    2 can kits v 2 can brew

I think the main difference is twice the malt and a better yeast (maybe). I have had very good results with coopers one can kits the Aussie pale ale is one of my favourites. I've had poor results with the simply kits so will not use them again (probably poor quality yeast) My best brews by far...

Ale still cloudy after 3 months in bottle?

Well I've just finished the glass, so may try another just to be certain! Only problem is it usually takes me at least 4 or 5. I've never had a brew that has remained cloudy for this long, but to be fair this kit was a simply brown ale so only cost me £15 including the hops and sugar, so...

Ale still cloudy after 3 months in bottle?

Hi all, I'm sampling my brown ale that was bottled late August. Well it is hazy/cloudy, I mean you can see through it but it isn't crystal clear. It tastes ok but it's not my best. I think I've narrowed it down to either a high fermentation temp or high dry hop amounts. I struggled to keep...

Have I messed up my first true lager?!

Yes 2 days max at 19oC it's now within range hopefully, I have brewed some very light beers with ale yeast that my lager drinking father loves, he won't dare even to try an IPA I don't know what's wrong with him to be honest Ale is so much easier though. Worst case I'll just call it a "steam...

Have I messed up my first true lager?!

Right so, I started my lager 2 days ago and pitched the yeast at 14oC (so far so good), checked it last night and had my thermostat set for ale temps:doh: I have now managed to get the temp down to 14o again from 19o, will this have ruined my lager? There is a krausen ring and the airlock is...

    Muntons gold continental Pils yeast?

They didn't say to add more yeast mate just brew at the above temps with the provided yeast, tbh 6g of yeast doesn't seem like a lot for a premium kit!

    Muntons gold continental Pils yeast?

That's what I thought, i did mention the future addition of a card or something inside the box for lagers and such.

    Muntons gold continental Pils yeast?

For those who want to know? I have just spoken to Muntons with regard to this beer kit, and the yeast provided is an actual lager yeast!! They recommended fermenting between 12-15oC, hopefully this kit will turn out very nice indeed. So if you have bought this kit don't follow the instructions...

    Muntons gold continental Pils yeast?

Hi all, just received the above kit, the yeast provided says lager yeast, but the instructions say to brew between 18 and 21 oC. I assume that the instructions are generic for all of these kits. Would the yeast be an ale yeast or a true lager strain? I don't want to start this kit without...
