    Test brew from the dregs

That is interesting, might be worth trying that on a large batch then, maybe 2 packets on a 5 gallon if you are in a rush.

    Test brew from the dregs

As the title sort of says I had a little extra left over in the boiler after filling the fermentor to about 5 gallons, so I thought might as well try something. I had a glass demijon hanging around so I just pour the rest of the wort into that and threw in half a packet of M84 yeast. The brew is...

    Ace micro brewer

Quick update after the triping last brew, Brewed today zero issues, no trips at all. Now I noted the temp was showing at 100c when it triped last time, this time it shows 98c on a rolling boil. It has always shown 98c on a rolling boil until the trip boil so I expect as other stated there was a...

    Ace micro brewer

Bit of advice needed. I've had mine under a year and for the first time it started tripping out on the boil. This has not happened before, I run it always at 2500w and make sure it is clean after use. After each brew there is always a little burnt on wort where the element is. I'm just boiling...

    Inkbird questions

I set mine at .5 however if the house is say an average of 18c and I am brewing lager at 12c I do not plug in the heater. I find this works well. Also if you are cold crashing then I would also unplug the heater. In my case I'm measuring the temp of the wort not the temp in the fridge, if that...

    Kegerator from chest freezer

Hello All, So after getting fed up with bottling I've ordered two Cornelius kegs from MM. I am picking up CO2 today. Now I have a brew fridge which was given to me and that should fit in a keg however I'd rather have a dedicated Kegerator so I can keep brewing in the brew fridge. Has anyone...

    All grain Supplies

Thanks, I was planning to do the same order 5 or 6. I was bothered about freshness too. That may be a plan then.

    All grain Supplies

Where are you getting your supplies from? I don't have a local shop and I'm getting fed up of paying 6 or 7 pounds for shipping for a 9 quid all grain kit. Anyone got any ideas, online or near MK or is it just order in bulk? Cheers

    Ace Brewing System?

I have the Klarstein version and love it. About 10 brews so far no issues. However the wattage is not variable. You can select a wattage and the unit just turns on and off the elements via a relay. Set it at 1250 watts and the 2500 watt element is on for half the time and off the other giving...

Exactly what I thought. I did not like the switching, I can see burnt out contacts in the future.

    Home brew twang

Just do it, every kit I ever made had a twang. Switched to all grain no twang at all. It is the LME in kits simple as that. Do a simple all grain in a big pan, there are lots of threads of how to start all grain. Once you have made one all grain you will never go back.

    Ace micro brewer

Thanks I'm not mad then! I was pretty sure the wattage control is just a relay and not true power control, sounds like that is the case. Anyway lager done on 2500 watts, boiled like a champ.

    Ace micro brewer

I'll email support. If I set it to 1800 watts it just goes on for a bit, clicks, off for a bit, clicks, on again for a bit and so on. the lower the wattage the longer the off bit lasts. Does no one elses do this?

    Ace micro brewer

Just got mine going again this morning for a mexican lager. I am the only one that boils at 2500w. I don't like the relay switching in and out if I lower the wattage.

Off Taste - Maybe cardboard, maybe chemically - Not Sure

I had the TCP taste a couple of times and put it down to not using a campden tablet. Sounds like you have been brewing for years so I expect you already treat the water.

    Brew fridge questions

Picked one up this morning and wired it in. Back up and running and a Kolche in there at 18c! So back with the tube let's hope it lasts longer than the ebay one.

    Brew fridge questions

OK set it up quickly with an old hair dryer. Set temp to 18c....hairdryer starts up temp goes up very quickly....hairdryer shuts off and temp stops going up at about 19c...fridge comes on....temp goes down slowly to 18c......hairdryer comes on.....and so on. The hairdryer seems a bit too...

    Brew fridge questions

Right but that would be the same for a tube heater etc and the fridge cools the space not the wort..Are you saying use the fish tank heater or brew belt/mat? I guess there is no right answer!
