    Man Cements Head Into Microwave

This is a good news story. It proves we have nothing to fear from the YouTube generation! Personally I'd have plugged it in and put him on to defrost.... Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

What other hobbies do you have?

Ha, ha, this sounds just like me! My eldest is just seven so we're starting to able to do things together, camping, hiking, geocaching. I've got a Canadian canoe which we don't get out as often as I'd like but still use now and again also cycling. I love the outdoors but limited options when we...

    Miscalculated on the sugar?!

I did think about this but was worried about watering down the "body". I know I'll drink it anyway, just kinda wanted to get it "right". Maybe I worry too much.... Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

    Miscalculated on the sugar?!

Hello, Rather than merely dumping a load of apple juice in an FV and bunging yeast on top, I have been experimenting with some proper "recipes" recently. Today's was a fruit TC aiming for about 7% ABV. However, I think I miscalculated the additional sugar as, upon taking an SG reading it...

    What things have you made?

This is about brewing really but I couldn't think where else to put it? Like any hobby / interest / way-of-life brewing can become costly especially if one invests in all the available accessories, gizmos, not-really-necessary add-ons etc. I have been looking at bottle drainers and came...

    How much yeast?

I just asked for cider yeast. Don't know if it makes a difference between beer / cider but I've had no problems thus far?

    How much yeast?

I usually pick up a sachet of yeast and a tub of nutrient from a well known high street shop that sounds like Bilko. Whether I am making a one gallon demi-john or 23lt bucket load I have always only chucked in one sachet, though I might varythe nutrient a bit. Today, I visited my...

How do you store your Demijohns when not in use?

On the garage floor, same as OP. One day I hope to clear the place up and maybe get a car in there.........unlikely though.....

    Blue syphon clips

I thought the blue ones were just different coloured versions of the red, so you could have "His 'n' Hers"! Does this mean all the blue ones are like this? What e-bay seller are people using?

    Airlock

I'm the opposite, I've recently switch to these and find them easier than the S type. Certainly easier to clean if you do get some froth up your tube! I tend to leave a bit of space at the top of the FV anyway. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

    Cider making calculator - TC

Blimey, just been looking at Roddy's recipes and "brew schedule". Bloody hell, I've been doing this all wrong!:nono: I just chuck juice in a DJ, yeast on top. Conditioning? Don't make me laugh, it's drunk before there's time for that! I will take a leaf out of Roddy's book....:thumb:

New cider press - best practice

When I bought my press a few years back it came with a little pot of food grade "grease" (vegetable based I believe). It hasn't run out yet so I've not had to worry about replacing but a quick internet search seems to suggest there are plenty of such products available, though if need be I would...

    Kit or Juice?

Previously I have used pressed apples or shop bought juice to make my cider. Is there any point in buying a kit? What are the advantages, if any of a kit?
