    Getting a brewing license

As adove, blackriars insurance. Ours cost approx £150 per £million of third party liability. I've been a director previously and I'm currently a director of a much larger company and unless your planning brew dog style growth or market domination I'd stick with sole trader for now. In our first...

    Getting a brewing license

I'd definitely recommend staying as a sole trader. As a ltd co you have another level of accounts to provide each year for companies house. Your never going to make more than a few pounds profit if you're lucky, due to economies of scale so make the paperwork as easy as possible.

    Getting a brewing license

We did this last year, and found HMRC very helpful. Read notice 226. It took only 3 weeks from sending in the application forms (brewery reg and awrs) to receiveing the registration certificates . There is no cost other than a stamp . If the pub has a kitchen it will be registered with...

    Motorbike.

I love the divi. All the plus points of the xj without all that weight plus the very civilised shaft drive. But I still don't understand why both were only given 5 gears.

    Motorbike.

It died of old age and a lack of TLC. I bought a mint xj900 diversion and gave the fj to a guy who restored fj's to give it a new life.

Have you tried fj1100/1200 UK group on Facebook. I had lots of help until my fj12 finally died. Some one on there might be able to source parts for you.

    Ebay Beer Keg

I got a couple a while back. One's full in the shed now. You use a Grundy keg connector for gas in / beer out so unless you can lay your hands on one its more expense. I use a cheap party tap to serve. They are fairly easy to clean but at 32 quid very expensive. If you visit polykegs website...

At work so not drinking my own. Had four pints of Ulverston brewery laughing gravy. Two flying elephants and s fra diaviolo. Possibly the best beers ever made by any brewery ever.

HMRC registration, not so daft an idea after all

Sounds like you're doing everything right. John mulholland of Abraham Thompsons had a half barrel plant and only brewed occasionally. When hmrc enforced rules that everything brewed including for personal consumption was liable for duty he deregistered his plant and gave up commercial brewing...

HMRC registration, not so daft an idea after all

Abraham's brewery in Barrow in Furness has closed down due to hmrc rules. He only brewed 9 gallons for sale and 4.5 gallons for personal consumption. Hmrc insist he had to pay duty on everything he brewed including the 4.5 galls for personal consumption.

    2016.

I replaced my fj12 this year. It needs two strong men to pick up if you drop it. Got a 900divi now, its a lot lighter and nimbler. Your right, life would be miserable without the bike (and beer).
