I'd be really interesting in the recipe or how you did it and how it turned out if you don't mind letting us know. Especially with the fresh cherries. Thanks

    This is unbelievable

Appreciate the advice, yes maybe it's a little too much for a beginner. I'll have a go with something more simple for starters and see how it goes from there. Thanks again.

Thanks for that, really appreciate both replies and the link. Would the Kent Goldings hops substitute ok? Can't seem to find the US ones for sale in the UK.

    Complete Newbie from Grimsby

Ah well, a bit of an update. Started it two weeks ago, a Brewmaker Shire Mild kit from the shop in Grimsby, it says ready to drink in about 10 days! Did as the instructions said but instead of adding 1kg of sugar I used 1kg of Muntons beer enhancer. I was a bit premature pitching the yeast as it...

Cheers Bigcol49, your right. I've just ordered the book 'Brew' by James Morton after seeing it recommended on here so that will give me something to do while waiting for Santa. The place I've earmarked for my FV is full of presents at the minute too so probably easier just to wait, though you...

Thanks again all for your welcomes and tips. I was going to pop to Grimsby Home Brew next week but the wife has told me not to go buying anything yet so I guess that's Christmas prezzies sorted for some lol. Thanks Dutto for the tips on transportation, I'd call Skegness local :thumb: , it's...

    Complete Newbie from Grimsby

Looking through everything I can see mild isn't that popular. I'll have a chat in the shop and could always try a Geordie Mild, for £8.75 it isn't too much of a loss if I make a pigs ear of it!

Thanks terrym, a great beginners guide. I'd just spoken to the wife about the LHBS in Grimsby, I'll definitely pay them a visit and I'm sure they'll help with advice for starting with their kits. Any recommendations for a good beginners kit for mild? Especially if any of you have tried the kits...
