    Meteor beer,???

At this moment I'm sitting having a drink in France, meteor beer. I'm not a fan of French Beer normally but this is great! I can't pin down the flavour, her indoors reckons it's sloes, I don't think so. Anyone tried it? I'd love to try to make it.

    Inkbird ITC100VH PID help please

Last week I made a post on my equipment upgrade build, it all went pretty much as planned, except I didn't have quite enough cable so couldn't connect my hlt. I did my first brew the next day and I have a query over the behaviour of my Inkbird ITC100VH PID, with pt100 thermocouple, I did ask at...

It's going to be a busy day today!!

My plan is to brew tomorrow, but first there's a bit of work to do. 1st job is make a couple of holes in what's going to be my mash tun/boil kettle, one for a 50mm tri-clamp, and the other for a thermowell. Bit worried because it's a bit thicker than the q-max cutters say they can handle. Got to...

    Thermocouple advice needed.

I see some people having problems with the sensitivity of their PID sensors when using a thermowell. So the do away with the thermowell and install the thermocouple directly into the mash tun/boiler. Are the thermocouples waterproof? I have some that I would think not, but the photo shows one...

    Control panel help please.

I'm going to upgrade my brewing experience by moving away from my kettle elements in a plastic fv biab which will become my HLT to a 50ltr s/s mash/boil pot, brew in a basket. All under the watchful eye of a control panel. I'll be brewing in the garage, as oppose to outside the garage, and I'm...

    Is this timer Suitable?

I'm going to shortly build a control panel (still waiting for some bits) to go with my new boil pot that I'm going to "build" today! I've posted a link to a timer on Ali Express, I've ordered the mains version. Do the experts on here think that the timer would be suitable to start a 2.2 kw...

    Large(ish) fermentation chamber.

Has anyone here made a large fermentation chamber by extending a small upright fridge or freezer? I've already converted a tall fridge freezer but I can only get one FV in there. I'm thinking of an insulated chamber with probably a small upright freezer at one end with the door removed, a tube...

    Ali Express again

I want to buy several items from A. L. Including a grain basket, has anybody bought lately since the new import rules have been in place, and has anyone been stung with extra costs?

    Electric elements

Will a 2kw "long" element, such as from a washing machine, be less likely to burn the wort than a 2kw "short" element, such as from a cheap kettle?

    Opinions please

I'm looking to upgrade ( slightly) I've been brewing, quite successfully, biab in a 30L plastic bucket with a couple of cheap kettle elements. A couple of things are annoying me though. Firstly when I lift the bag out it makes a bit of a mess no matter how careful I am, so I think a basket or...

    Timothy Taylor landlord

Thinking of doing the Graham Wheeler Landlord tomorrow. It calls for white sugar, anyone done it? Anyone replaced the sugar with grains? Is there any benefit, or should I just add the sugar?

    9 gallon plastic casks

There's a guy near me, Gillingham in Kent, that has a fair few 9 gallon plastic casks for sale. They are all perfectly legal, his son owns them, he has had to shut down his brewery. He wants £10 each for then. They are strictly collection only

    Curious beer clone

Chapel Down are being taken over and the curious beer brand will cease. I don't particularly like their original beer, curious brew, but there curious porter is one of the best porters I have ever tasted. Does anyone have a recipe for it ?

    Nelson Brewery Chatham Dockyard

Just seen on Facebook that Nelson Brewery in the dockyard have started supplying grains and hops. Seems to be a limited range of grains but a reasonable range of hops. The prices don't look too bad, especially if buying hops in 500gm lots. Even better, if you've got an ME postcode they deliver...

    Out of date grain pack

Some advice please, I ordered an essential starter kit from Northern Brewer which arrived today. My plan was to brew tomorrow, this would be my first brew. I've been waiting for swmbo to go to bed so I can open the box to look at the contents without getting moaned at. In the box is a pack of...
